Marcel Brands

Exactly, Benitez and Moshiri running the transfers (n)
This was already the case, Brands had no say in the last window.

Every target he suggested got knocked back. That's not a good reflection on him but as I've said all along since August, Benitez was given full power over our recruitment.

Just because we only spent £1.7m doesn't mean that's not the case.

More commenting on the guy in the tweet, but I suppose it applies equally to those who believe we're owed the nitty-gritty of everything the club does.
We still don’t know the job description of the Director of Football over the past 4 years. I don’t think people expect nitty gritty, but some transparency on how our club is run might be nice.

Benitez won.

I said the other day a head would roll, it was a straight choice between Benitez and Brands.

I can't argue for the defence of Brands, other than we were stupid to not do it in the summer and go and get a proper overseer like Rangnick in when Carlo left, to ort it all out.

Benitez has no defence either, though. He's crap and needs punting from this club. Instead he's now being fully entrusted to run it.

this is what I mean. What are you basing that on? Which are the skills that she lacks? And what are your qualifications to make that judgement? (Not picking on you specifically, just comments like that get thrown around a lot on here)
I'm basing it on her CV and her subsequent performance - or rather the performance of the organisation where she is Chief Executive. She has no track record of success at an organisation the size of Everton - nor a track record of success during her tenure here. I'm sure she's a lovely person, but she's not running a charity now (or at least she's not when you take our defence out of the equation).

I don't wish to be unkind to her. But if we are to endure an owner who makes suspect footballing decisions a habit, he needs to be surrounded by heavyweights and people of vision, proven achievement, and influence. At best, Denise has simply been swept along in Moshiri's diktats, a mere courtier in a craven politburo that seems incapable of steadying his wildly out-of-control ship. Harsh? Possibly. But I don't think we can afford to wait for these people to make their mark when we are veering to the Championship at a rate of knots.

I will wihthold judgement on Benitez after he spends cash and gets DCL back.

I just want stability roight now. Progress would be nice in the second half of the season.

That doesn’t really answer the question though.

1) No one has a track record at a certain level until they do.
2) Moshiri owns the club, and (pretty clearly at this point) does exactly as he pleases. What exactly would you expect ANY CEO (or DoF for that matter) to do about that?
3) re: veering to the Championship - I’m not sure DBB can stop Benitez playing 2 in midfield against City or his beloved RS

Thing is Dave, I dread to think where we could be in January (I hope we aren't).

And in that case, if worst comes to worst and we're around the drop zone like we are now, then how is that money going to be spent in January - or whatever money there is?

It'll be Benitez using it totally for self-preservation.

Get rid now, get a manager who is actually good in (Favre would be my pick, give him an 18-month deal and then the promise of being our DoF in that kind of Rangnick role, let him set a style in place to take us into the new stadium), and give them whatever we have to spend.

It's not just Digne who isn't happy playing under Benitez. And not all of the players are s*******s for it either. One of the players only came in over the summer...

About the 5th time I’ve asked you this, but… why?

What does spending money and having DCL have to do with his bizarre team selections, tactics and substitutions?

What are your thoughts about him playing 2 in midfield against the RS, for example? Or is that too awkward a question?

The more you think about the Mr Shouty v Brands encounter the more you can see what an utter kin rat Brands is.

Asking Mr Shouty if he thought it was more than the players who were to blame...he obvioulsy wanted to prompt the man into responding with "yes, Benitez" or indeed expand it out to the chairman and owner.

I wouldn't be surprised if that got him the sack.
