It's impossible to know whether this is good or bad. As none of us truly know how things have been behind the scenes.

Hopefully this will shake things up and result in an improvement but I'm honestly having my doubts. Brands was the man that seemed to have roots that come more from a modern way of thinking, whereas what we have left is the opposite of that.

And to tell the truth i find the whole thing very bizare. He was a DOF of football in the netherlands only before joining Everton. Does that warrant who is actualy on the pitch for Everton week in week out.
As much as its benitez i still would prefer a manager to pick all of the players who play for the club.
And if his supposed "is it only the players" comment on weds is true. Well having watched them for the past few years i'd say bloody yes most of it is. And if you've had a major hand in that what does that say about you.

Can we just swerve this DOF thing from now on.

I’m not sure why people are deciding who they think was responsible for every transfer without any idea whether it’s true or not. Brands was director of football and on the board so you can try to absolve him of blame if you want but there’s no reason to believe he wasn’t culpable for this mess.

Brands is the fall guy to yet again take any focus off Kenwright's serial failure in change of this club. Another thrown to the alter of Bullshit Billy's ego.

Mid 80s he was first appointed onto the board and it's all been downhill since then.

Remember the rumours about the Grantchesters closing their chequebooks because of him and the 'means to an end' Fortress Sports Fund fiasco that conveniently pitted Kenwright against Paul Gregg when the latter was offering to loan us the extra money we needed to make Kings Dock happen.

I even think history may one day show that Peter Johnson's sudden pulling the plug on the team was down to him being fed up of Kenwright's meddling in club affairs

Kenwright convinces everyone that he is Everton's biggest supporter and we should think ourselves lucky to have him looking out for us when in reality it's Everton who are the biggest supporter of that man's ego and his era at the club will go down as the worst thing to happen to it since John Holding put up the rent and went on to form that lot.

And no accountability for the mess hes put us in, but yet more power and control just handed to him. Dark days ahead until we break this Benitez spell on parts of the club and fanbase.

Whether people like Benitez or not - bad recruitment & horrendous injuries have plagued us for years under numerous managers so Benitez chasing Brands and Dr Death out the door is positive for the club long term regardless of who is in the dugout.

Sometimes you have to say fair play even if you dont like the guy.

I’d trust him to bring in a better player than Benitez. And if we have Ferguson as caretaker manager (almost inevitable) then we won’t be signing anyone.

How is it possible to have benitez ahead of brands? He's not been here a wet day, was give 2 million to spend and has had to deal with a shocking injury crisis... Brands has been responsible for hundreds of millions in transfers and these players haven't improved us.

Brands is a scapegoat. Brands is a symptom of the problems at the club. The role is a symbol of the mismanagement, also.

But Brands (yes he's not the only one) communicated very little to us. He spoke to the Dutch press. That is part of the problem. The club treat us with contempt they also treat us like fools.

Brands going won't change a great deal. The club has been rotting inside for years.
