Marcel Brands

He bought out his Dalian contract and got a signing on fee from us to compensate.

I don't know for certain how much. I saw two reports that I didn't think were 100% reliable say 90k a week in September.

I followed this up with someone I trust and got told the signing on fee would equate to that amount.

Either way, he's on far more than he should be and was handed a 2-year deal with a (club) option for a third, which as a crocked 32-year-old who's played in China /Russia for 2 years is mad. Brands signed off on that deal so it's not a defence of him, I'm glad he's gone.

Right, so you don't know.

He's not on £90k a week, and common sense alone should tell you that given we've just spent no money due to FFP.

Every single scrap of evidence is £43,000, but because you have an agenda you went with £90k.

Ha OK, the info on here is mad, makes me laugh ?. Taxis drivers everywhere
Well sports journalists as well ;)

But yeah, I don't know for certain so apologies for saying it like it was. I cannot know for certain. I got told by someone who I believe that Everton are paying him £90k a week all in all, with how the deal is structured. I don't have to report on Everton but when I do have to do any work like this I like to source stuff. I was putting together a feature a few months back and worked on getting it second sourced, it didn't happen so I didn't put it in the feature. Apologies for saying it with such confidence but I fully believe the person I spoke to on it.

See my post to Ley.

Please show me the evidence of £43k? I can ask the same.

Look, I apologise for coming out with such certainty. I know Almiron is Newcastle's highest earner and Benitez signed off on that deal. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it was high. Friggin Cuco Martina got £40k a week from us and for Rondon's faults he's better than that joker.

We saved money on Kean's wages which were hefty and had a loan fee coming in.

Like I said, Rondon negotiated his way out of Dalian's deal (that isn't up for debate btw, that's fact, he wasn't out of contract with them). Has he done that for free?

He didn't 'negotiate' - they cut his contract by mutual consent because they had to as the bubble popped in China.

So yes. If anything, the Chinese club would have paid him for leaving.

As for evidence of £43k, just Google Rondon wage Everton - here you go - https://www.google.com/search?q=rondon+wage+everton+£43k

That's the only evidence there is; absolutely nothing says £90k.

This makes no sense.

If Brands never had full control over footballing strategy or transfers then why would anything change after he leaves.

He had a lot of control even if it wasnt a full amount imo - did Moshiri sign Gomes? Mina? Digne? Kean? Sidibe? Lossl? Benard? Delph? Gbamin?

He was a disaster and im glad he's been booted - im not going to become a hypocrite and pretend he was some victim in all of this just because of who the manager is.

Okay mate

I was told he fully negotiated his deal out of leaving and trust the person I spoke to on that more than the Mail.

I'll go with you and say £43k - I mean he'll have got his signing on fee regardless as he came as a free agent. I was told, as I said, that this signing on fee covered his exit cost. Dalian initially wanted a few mil that Everton refused to pay (rightly so) in July. The reason it dragged on was this negotiation.

It's not at all out of question that he got a £750k signing on fee and will be due another bonus at the end of the year and then another at the end of his contract.
