I’ve thought for a long time that Brands was either, totally inept, or, totally cowardly, it seems that the answer was cowardly. He was employed to be director of football, a role which Moshiri obviously did not let him fulfill. He should have been controlling all football aspects of the club, but, seems to have been allowed to control some of these aspects some of the time according to Moshiri’s whim.
Managers have far too much control at Everton, unless that changes it is totally senseless us employing and paying a DOF. We need to decide, as a club, whether the manager and owner control everything, or, whether we are to have a DOF who is left to do his job, i. e. direct the football side of the club.
My own take on this is that a DOF is essential in the modern game, as managers come and go so frequently, if you allow them to decide their own brand of football and bring in their own set of players to implement that style, you very soon end up in the financial position we find ourselves in. But, it’s Moshiris bubble, with a Moshiri’s rules.
