Marcel Brands

No sympathy for him as he was happy to be overruled, whilst still signing a new contract.
But think we would have been better off now if he was allowed to do his job properly.
These jokers running the club are the problem, and I worry what they’ll come up with next.
I’m more angry now about things than before Brands went.

"If he had it his way, Everton would have appointed a manager like Graham Potter,"

This tells me that most of the above is totally unsubstantiated, pure guess work.

Signed. A. 3. Year. Deal. In. APRIL.

If it wasnt able to do his job properly, he'd have left when his contract was up.

It's Benitez and him and he didn't want to work for him.. simple.

Agreed. And if Brands was a man of integrity he should have walked away instead of signing an extension to his contract.

….he has walked away from a chunk of it.

We can only assume what has been going on & it seems some of our assumptions about him not bringing in the likes of Iwobi were right. Posters have been slaughtering him on here for such transfers & it seems they were wrong.

i think he signed a new deal because he was fine working with Ancelotti. They clearly had a decent working relationship, Ancelotti saying he’d never heard of Doucoure but agreed to acquiring him when recommended by Brands. The relationship with Ancelotti was cordial & professional & apparently they met daily despite Brands being against the appointment.

Brands was also against Benitez & they clearly didn’t have a cordial or effective working relationship. i doubt Benitez spoke with him or entertained any recommendations made by Brands. I assume Brands walked because his relationship with Benitez was untenable & he should be commended for that.

Benitez position now appears stronger but much will depend on whether a number of Board members are sympathetic to Brands. I suspect DBB is not a supporter of Benitez & perhaps Kenwright feels similar. Benitez is not a pleasant man to work with, he wants control & people who do as he says. Not necessarily a bad thing if you’re exceptional at your job.

The residue of his departure is Benitez and Moshiri will continue to bring in their own players, so nothing changes.

As for the Ben Godfrey thing...none of us as fancy knew who he was even though he played an entire season at Norwich in the prem and making no noticeable impact.

You think Mosh spotted the "talent"? Behave.
That’s not what it says though. It says that Brands said we don’t have the budget, but Moshiri purchased him anyway.

Which suggests, to me, that we may have been trying to get him on loan for a year, they rejected it and big balls nobhead owner just agreed to pay what they wanted going against advice

I think he is probably one of the last to go, personally Imo he is one of the last to be blamed.

That said, not being allowed to do his job, decisions over his head, managers not being chosen by him, these things alone should have made him quit.

Not replacing Coleman and some other key areas, are another reason he should be held accountable.

Every position in the club should be made accountable, if they don't they are just there to be yes men and collect their wages.

Brands was down on the list on people who needed to be hung and quartered, but he should have been held accountable like everyone else.

More and more noises coming out that Brands wasn’t to blame for Iwobi, never wanted Zaha, and if he had his way we’d have Potter as manager with Dumfries at right back rather than a washed up Kopite and an ailing Coleman. Let’s be honest he was never allowed to do his job and Moshiri is a big problem.

Glad someone else has read it properly.

Ancelotti even said that he hadn’t seen Godfrey but was glad that the club had delivered him, same as Doucoure.

Some of the stuff coming out is pure revisionism to suit a frankly unhelpful anti Benitez agenda. Brands signed a three year contract recently, people who aren’t empowered in their jobs don’t do this.

Apparently it was everyone’s fault apart from his, Moshiri’s for everything before Benitez but now definitely Benitez’s fault. How convenient.
