As for the Ben Godfrey thing...none of us as fancy knew who he was even though he played an entire season at Norwich in the prem and making no noticeable impact.

You think Mosh spotted the "talent"? Behave.
If the DOF role involved managing inside FFP then maybe that statement was not about spotting talent but but not contravening FFP rules. We just do not know at this point and maybe never will.

Assuming the above is possible it could be read as;

"[Brands] also repeatedly insisted that there was only budget to sign a defender on loan in 2020, but Farhad Moshiri signed Ben Godfrey on a permanent transfer instead."

I think a few posters here are a bit naive. An NDA would have been written into Brands contract regardless of manner of departure, and I'm sure there's a non compete time limited cluase in there as well. So he won't be at Newcastle in January for example.

The fact is contracts are written by lawyers. Lawyers are competent at their jobs, even the ones Everton engages.

Shows how moshiri has no handle on the day to day running of the club as brands said he tendered his resignation to the chairman after speaking to the other board members

Brilliantly Moshiri seemingly pushed the budget restraints onto a year later.

I'm not entirely sure that's accurate.

That’s not what it says though. It says that Brands said we don’t have the budget, but Moshiri purchased him anyway.

Which suggests, to me, that we may have been trying to get him on loan for a year, they rejected it and big balls nobhead owner just agreed to pay what they wanted going against advice
Sorry mate, hadn't got to your post before posting the same.

Very general statement there, I know loads of lawyers and some, as in every profession, aren’t competent.

He clearly didn’t walk. He was “ approached by our Chairman on Friday” , and then the negotiations for payoff etc began .
He says .
"The board and I agreed that there is a clear difference in the vision and direction for this beautiful club and, with that in mind, the decision was taken.”

While he made many mistakes he at least appeared to have an inkling of a vision and knowledge about football.
Does anybody really think that suddenly all our woes are over and that Kenwright and the rest of the Board have a different and better vision and direction than Brands?.
