Its tongue in cheek you turbo merkin.

Meh... he came in here to say that and that he doesn't understand why people want him sacked because he's on the board with several titles now...

Like that means anything to supporters, makes the job hes done any better...

That dude can go continue to talk to himself in his 200pg RB Leipzig thread, since he doesn't like jokes or other people's frustrations. That way he can just talk to himself about his crap team that no one likes.

Or actually makes it any clearer what he actually does. The team really imo needs to decide on an organizational structure with clearly defined roles so people can be held directly accountable. At least while we are stuck in this purgatory of just blowing money and getting no results besides thankfully avoiding relegation battles.

Otherwise it's just going to continue. The same cycles if bad signings and managers in and out almost yearly.

For successful businessmen this seems like a pretty simple concept to install. Not sure why it has been years and they still aren't close to this at all imo.

Have you just spent 3 paragraphs talking about me? I’m offended. #MambaOut

I understand the restrictions Brands was operating under. This window does raise the question though about how effective he is being in identifying suitable targets for the club and the transfer policy. We want younger players yet 3 out of the 4 players signed are 30+ (OK they cost no transfer fee so that explains it). We need a full back (RB) but end the window with one less fullback than we started with. At the very least Rondon and Townsend were identified by Benitez as targets. We wanted to shift players on high wages and the best we could do was loan a highly talented Forward for 2 years to the club we bought him from, kept hold of Rodriguez who was the top priority to shift. So exactly what has Brands done this summer to justify his wages?

What a chocka day he must have had sorting out that deal for Rondon. Right down to the wire cos Benitez only gave him about 6 weeks notice about some fella he should sign as he's worked with him at Newcastle and Dalian.

I think we possibly have the greatest worldwide network in the PL.

Go and take a few months off Brands and your scouting team as you've all earned a well deserved break.

I’ve seen some bad people at the club in my time supporting us, From owners, chairmen, previous sporting director, terrible players, players happy to take big wages and offer us nothing but brands is right up there as the biggest failure and a danger to the clubs future. He’s terrible at signing players, terrible at paying big fees for average players, terrible at giving way over the top wages, even worse than any of the previous at actually selling players, he’s had several windows to fix the blatantly obvious in regards to the squad. He’s now left us with an aging right back that shouldn’t be starting every game, a backup right back that shouldn’t be in a premier league squad, no real LB as cover and our youth setup And productivity is probably league 2 standard at best.

genuinely believe any of our fans could do a better job than he’s doing, we most certainly couldn’t do a worse job.

Just don't see the point of him now to be honest, I wanted to believe we would 100% be following the proper DoF plan when brought him in, Walsh is a head scout pushed into a role he knew nothing about or should be nowhere near.

Brands I thought would;

- Oversee the plan for the playing squad recruitment (IE have a plan, not just lets sign whoever the new manager wants every 18 months).
- Oversee and implement a playing style from the youth to senior teams.
- Promote succession plans to management so we aren't clamouring around we appoint managers who suit the style.
- Oversee the progression of players to the first team from the youth squads and improve youth recruitment.
- Find gems which we can develop and sell on at a higher price.

Thats just the tip of the iceberg for me on what a DoF does. It appear he doesn't do any of it though, this comment is very much on the outside looking in, but I can probably count 1 or 2 signings in the 3 years he has been here who aren't the newly appointed managers signings. This summer has ALL been Benitez signings, Brands gets no credit for Gray as Benitez has followed him for years, as have we as a club.

He needs to either outline his plans, explain whats gone wrong and talk about how he aims to be a success at the club. Right now, I feel he is very much like some of the dead wood in the squad who get contracts after contracts for doing nothing.

Outside looking in, I know it might be different on the inside of the club, but his performance and planning for a traditional DoF is absolutely poor and should be held accountable.

Moshiri doesn't help, but Brands needs to exert his influence.
