Marcel Brands

All this makes you wonder what Brands job actually is, doubt he knows himself, but then which one of us wouldn't just go through the motions and take the money.
I would imagine there are two groups, Everton's scouting network and the managers network.
The scouting network turns up players like Godfrey, Ndonku, Brantwaith(s?), that new kid from Sunderland while the managers network turns up the majority of other signings.
I would imagine Brands' job in this system is to filter out what players are to be signed and then get them signed.
I'd say Benitez went to him with quite a list of players and his job is to narrow that down and get them in.
Again, this is all just guess work.
The only one that doesn't make any sense to me since brands arrived is Iwobi.

When he was hired I sort of had the idea that he would have a long-term blue print for how the teams (youngsters to first team squad) would play then he would be instrumental in finding the manager and players at all levels who would put it into action, bit like the Ajax model. But then somebody bought Moshiri a copy of Champ Manager and it all turned to ****

He's a disgrace this feller.

If he had one shred of dignity he'd have declined any offer to carry on here.

He must wonder what he has to do to get the sack.

The Gbamin signing is an utter scandal alone.

That Dave is not on, not Brands fault he got so badly injured. What about the decent signings he helped over the line?

He cant have checked out his injury record. He was 23 years of age when he started getting muscle and joint injuries.

That's just being ignorant with £25M on a young player.
Notice how you missed off the games missed column, here, let me help.

bmallo.webp

I mean a player missing 1 or 2 games a season with minor injury is hardly a red alert.

….that is actually quite revealing, I wasn’t aware of that.

Assessing a players injury record should be a significant part of any transfer consideration (e.g. Delph). It should also be an early indicator to move players on when their stock is high once muscular injuries start to surface (e.g. James McCarthy).

"Young athletic defensive midfielder pulls a muscle"

Hardly a surprising headline in world football. He barely missed any matches before us.
