"Young athletic defensive midfielder pulls a muscle"

Hardly a surprising headline in world football. He barely missed any matches before us.

Absolutley not, Richie muscle strain ? missing for 3 weeks, DCL and his big toe missing for 3 weeks, Well DaveK how about that?

Good luck ever signing a player again if you made the criteria "Never been injured".

You cant explain this feller's injuries since he arrived. He's made of paper mache. That didn't happen overnight when he signed for Everton.

Brands bought a pup. Again.

Stop defending him.

I never understood why we hired exactly him in the first place. Strange choice...
Because Moshiri read up on what other clubs did and thought he was being clever adding an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy on a club where we've always had secretary + manager or chairman + manager doing the business on the football side of things.

The feller's a 'kin bellend.

Well, personally Im not against a DOF overseeing the business side of things, in consultation with the manager. But I'm sure there are some better ones available than Brands.
Why renew his contract? Three years was it?

It literally did Dave, he was injured taking a routine shot in training for what would have likely been his 2nd start in 3 games for us

Three years, yes.

The model doesn't fit any club with an autocratic owner. No DoF is getting the job done there. Brands got the job because he was pliant. Could others have bought better? Definitely. Brands has been a disaster most of all in that respect. However, no other DoF with self respect would touch this one unless it came with assurances they'd be left to take major decisions and shape the club. That isn't happening here.
