Collaberation, negotiation, mediation and continuity were the key competencies of this job regardless of manager - wasn’t that the purpose of a DOF.

Im struggling to see how he has conducted role has added value to Everton, materially from a footballing perspective, administratively, from a leadership perspective and financially - do you want to share with us the value you can see?

Some one has to D/W with transfer fees in and out, plus the payroll, if not a DoF who then? Cannot be a matter for the manager. As I said in another post, just tryingto strike a balance, mistakes have been made but there have been some good outcomes bringing players in and getting players out. But on here all the focus seems to be on the mistakes. Anyone is this role is going to be a m ixture of good and bad, no DoF can be perfect no matter who it is or whoever is undertaking that role.

Like i said earlier Everton existed for almost 140 years without a DOF, its very possible if thats the route we take, especially if he is door matted by the manager and or owner. Elsewise as i said who said anything about the DOF model, the discussion is on the performance, competency and value of the one we have - hes not the only one in the world. I

This summer alone, Bolaise, Walcott, Besic.

Now do you want to expand on your logic and tell us of the value you see in his performance and competency?

No body wanted to buy them, so we had no option, just like Tosun, no offers for him so he is running it down.

Cannot sell a player :_

If no club will make an offer

the player will not sign for any club unless it is one he fancies

the potential buying club will not meet payroll demands

So friend what alternativesa do we have?

Id disagree with the premise mate, each of the three were out on loan in some cases multiple times, so a market existed, however each of those clubs were able to maintain the liability on Everton and mitigate the risk on themselves., we're talking of 70 mill of payed for talent, allowed to leave for 0. excluding the wages we paid them, to be honest i think we are viewed of a soft touch in the game. Look at Kean, one of the brightest young strikers in the league, double digits for one of the highest profile teams in Europe and CL last season, huge upside and we could only manage a two year loan for him. We're absolutely a soft touch, to the determent of the welfare of the club.

It cant always be circumstances or someone's else fault when it comes to the imcompatance in regard to our recruitment ins and outs, yet that seems to be your only mitigation. You haven't given one compelling reason on his value and I'm actually open minded, to wanting this lad to succeed, you are just asking cyclical questions without any compelling answers or evidence around a positive viewpoint, very unconvincing.

The cricism of Brands is way OTT, yes mistakes have been made judging from hindsight but many good things have been achieved. If Brands was not there no doubt the critics would find some one else to moan at.

Should give it a rest oh but the nosayers can't because it be boring not to have a moan.
It absolutely isn't.

He's Steve Walsh with a head of hair.

He's pissed away plenty of cash and the squad is crap.

There's not one argument I will listen to that he has done a good job. He needs to go.

Look guys I am trying to just get a bit of balance here to judge a persons performance, too many point to players like Delph as though that is the be all end all.
But it isn't just Delph is it? That's awfully reductionist.

There's Gomes, Iwobi, Kean, G'Bamin, a never-fit Mina, a host of back up keepers.

Plenty of deadwood and signings that are worth what we paid signed under his watch.

It is amazing how this gets thrown around constantly yet plenty of other clubs have been able to shift their crap players.

He is terrible at his job. Call it adding balance all you like but it is just willful ignorance to me.

Brands has been a huge failure. Although, it seems theres a lot of people at the club who aren’t good enough in their respective jobs. Coaches, we seem to go down the sentimental route & employ ex players, Baines (development coach) Unsworth, Ferguson. Scouts? We’ve had so many opportunities to rip it up & start again from the bottom with all the new managers we’ve had. Yet some faces remain throughout it all. I want innovative coaches/training not ex legends that we’re too frightened to get rid of or move sidewards.Too much sentimentality. We need to start acting like a big club & not a family club.

Always felt criticism of him had been borderline harsh. However the position we are left in now is criminal. Absolutely zero depth all over the pitch.

I’m thankful that Rafael is an experienced manager and his decisions will win us points.

They have to bring players in, in January even if it’s just squad rotations on loan. It’s embarrassing the money that has been spent and the situation we are in.
