1 million a month for him and all of his staff is nowhere near as bad as it sounds. He has about 10 backroom staff to cover out of that so it will end up about the going rate for PL managers these days. Being negotiated according to SSN.

Main concern with Biesla is his style runs his players into the ground rather quickly.

Great if its a short term deal until the end of the season - not so great if he's given a long term deal.
The short term gains out way the long term.

He will change the whole squad's mindset to tactical direct attacking football.

He comes in Friday say, he has a week before Arsenal then next game is Liverpool so let's face it, we get a point or sneak a win from either that's a good start then we fight for the remaining games of the season.

Hard to believe this story when I read somewhere he drove an old Fiat while at Leeds and lived in a cheap place

He’s a devout Catholic, and leads a fairly humble life. I can’t imagine he is demanding a huge pay packet.

He would want all his own people in, though. If it’s even true, maybe it’s to cover this?

As always, whoever I said would lead to replies of ‘he’d never come here/he had a bad season once in 2007/we can’t take a risk like that’ so it’s not really worth saying.

My take on it is generally that people who are quite literally employed to do these things and work in football for their whole lives should be able to come up with a shortlist that’s better than me and a couple of mates with a passing interest in football could, and yet it seems like we consistently fail to manage that.

Agreed but it’s the easiest thing in the world for fans to say who they don’t want. It’s such an easy game ‘I was right about x manager’. Not many fans will actually offer up a name though for who they want as manager.

Most fans don’t have the time to watch enough football, or have the experience or knowledge, to make a fair shout.

Like @Lanolin says, there are people who get paid a handsome price, and have years of experience, who should be prepared for this eventuality, and have a plan.

In regulated industries you are actually required to be prepared for something like this happening, and have a plan to deal with it. My company does, and the levels of money involved are a drop in the ocean compared to a Premier League football club.

How about Bielsa and Gallardo as joint managers. Both Argentinian, both play possession based attacking football, both available so no compensation cost to pay anyone. Thinking Biesla is 67 and he may want to take it easier. He has experience of English football so he can pass that knowledge on to Gallardo. Gallardo will be able to recommend some good up and coming South American players - buy them in at low cost before they become established and too expensive for us.

1 million per month he is asking supposedly for him and his team...not sure I would pay that...
We already have been paying that for Frank Lampard and all of the backroom staff behind him. Frank on his own was on 5 million a year which is nearly half of that million pound a month straight away. Then add all the backroom staff working with him on top and it is not as high as it first sounds.

We was paying around a million a month for Delph Tosun and Gomes who contributed zero to the club

But that’s the nature of the game isn’t it? It’s also easy for me to sit here saying ‘Christ these lads can’t pass a ball 5 yards they’re crap’ knowing full well that they’re a thousand times better at football than I’ll ever be.

It’s not my job to know who the best up and coming managers in Holland, Portugal and Germany are, so I have no idea. I expect the people who are getting paid to know that to be able to tell me though. I cannot accept that the best candidates for a highly paid job in the most popular league in the world are 3 out of work blokes who were sacked in their last jobs for failing to do exactly what we’re going to ask them to do here, it’s inconceivable, whether I can make better candidates or not.
