Great appointment but I just hope the guy is given the support and the time he needs to turn us into a top 6 side, especially from the fans.

I fear that we will be on his back after his first few poor results and that he'll be out the door by November.

We've become like Geordies.

My sentiments exactly.

He did very well at Estoril.Getting them promoted to the top flight and they did very well there, finishing in fifth and fourth place. He won a domestic cup with Sporting Lisbon and the league title with Olympiakos.Hull were relegated under him, but he did take over the side in Jaunary. And Watford were in very impressive form, when we approached him last season.Im just looking forward to a new era at Everton.Hopefully Marco Silva along with Marcel Brands will bring the good times back to Goodison.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, with regards to competing with the elite sides, but as long as we see a team playing attractive football, and a team that gives it's all every week, then everyone will be happy. There's a lot of work to be done.Getting rid of the wasters that undermined Martinez Koeman Unsy and Allardyce should be the first order of business. So yeah im just really excited about this new era for this football club!

You make some excellent points.

Regarding the job that Mr Silva did at Hull City: they were the number one favourites to be relegated when he took over. Despite this, he came very close to keeping them up.

Onwards and upwards.

Two things concern me with marco

One. He had a shocking run with Watford towards the end

Two. If that’s because he was “thinking about Everton” what happens if he does well here and bigger clubs come calling? Will the same occur?

For me it showed serious flaws

seemed more like the players downed tools than the manager

especially with all the press around at the time

All a guessing game how he will get on. Trophies or tears.

My guess. One good season, two bad ones, sacked.
He brings a defender and a forward from Watford, the forward gets the 9 shirt and hailed as the new Kone.
As it happens, the defender turns out to be better than Jags, Williams or Keane and so that is ok then.
Bring a blue home in Tom Cleverley, then plays him out of position. Puts him on penalties.
He will wear brown shoes.

None us know how this will end.
All we can do is hope for the best, support the team and see where it takes us......

There will be opportunities for top 6 next year, Arsenal will be in a period of transition and if Pochettino goes to Madrid it’s difficult to say how spurs will do. Hopefully our recruitment will go well and the existing players will embrace the new culture, and we are in a position to capitalise. First time I’ve felt excited about Everton for a while

Either period of transition or a honeymoon period of a season with the new manager, so that's not a given really.

Overall agree though, excited about the Mighty Ebeps.

Poch won’t go to Madrid. He is only just signed a new 5 year deal. (I know it doesn’t mean a lot in today’s game, but he seems like a decent bloke and not a snake).

Spurs will be up and around it again. Arsenal will probably get that new manager bounce and we are yet to see who they will bring in. I’m hoping Chelsea will struggle. Especially if roman decides to stop putting money in while he isn’t allowed here.

He is allowed. Israeli citizen now.

I see no reason why any of the top 6 would struggle next season, and all of them are likely to spend more in the summer than we will.

Rebranding ourselves as the best steppping stone to clubs like Madrid, Barca, Milan, Utd, City, PSG, Bayern for top talented young players will be our best strategy I would think. Liverpool did it post Benitez and it’s worked very well for them.

We won’t be near the top 6 they are well ahead of us.

This is an amazing appointment, am a huge fan of Marco Silva since his Hull City days. Although the club got relegated but it was too late anyways for him to turn around with a squad like that. They played magnificent football and had a decent home record. His teams can definitely play exciting football. Give him some time to get the players he wants who can play his style of football. Its a bad comparison but if he builds the squad like your friendly neighbor has done over 3 years, it would be a great achievement. This is also an ideal time to kick a new era since quite a few top EPL clubs are struggling, I wouldn't be surprised if Merseyside clubs rule the EPL once again. All the best.
