Was zonal at fault for the pen? The freekick, which was man-marked? The bad pass in midfield leading to their third?
So many people have picked up the word 'zonal' this season and blame it for our faults when its not. Its the lack of quality in defence, the disjointed midfield and the uncoordinated attack.

I don't blame zonal marking in the slightest. I blame the manager, the coaching staff and subsequently the players for not utilising zonal marking properly.

If you've got players who aimlessly let players run past them and regularly fail to go and challenge for the ball, then man-to-man marking isn't going to work either.

The disjointed midfield and players who are unable to do the simplest things only exacerbates our situation more, as we struggle to make up for when we concede.

With Mina out who else was there to pick? Talking about mystery selections, I don't rate Lookman highly, but surely he cannot be as bad as Walcott who seems always to get picked. Know all, wise after the event Big Sam signed Walcott I think. No idea how Silva can turn this around, unless he hires an interpreter. Presumably Richarlison understands him OK and yet he was a disgrace against Wolves. He might perform a bit better if played down the centre. He will never make a winger as long as he has got a hole in...

The team don’t look comfortable on or off the ball. I just can’t see how struggling managers can turn it around now as players down tools and stop investing in the managers ideas etc.

That's just false tho. Sir Alex Ferguson won about 12premier league titles taking ok players and making them play great. His last title win the team was just dross.

THAT is what a manager is SUPPOSED to do. Work with what your have and make them better as a whole.

One or two ok players mixed with match winners. We don't have any born winners in our squad.

Yes and no. There is nothing wrong with how he sets up for set pieces, if the players are good enough. My only complaint with him is that he should realise they aren't good enough and therefore adapt.

tbf we did have options ( or would have ) but he's loaned out Holgate and Pennington

There's Feeney in the reserves as well.

Whether these players are good enough is a different matter but I never buy into the "well he has no one else to pick". There's always someone else, it's just whether they can step up when given a chance.

I think just continually playing the same players who keep making the same mistakes well...your always gonna get the same results in the main which is what is happening
