Tim what's with the Arteta obsession mate?

Everything about him.

I'm fed up with managers who just dont understand the job they are in here. I see a young coach under Pep who was extremely close to getting a massive job at Arsenal. He would unite the club which is very important because the next manager needs lots of time.

The next appointment has to be right for the whole club. It needs to give a morale boost to everyone on and off the pitch.

I think my main worry about Arteta is that I simply can’t imagine him getting angry and shouting at the players when they inevitably turn on him about 4 months in.

We need someone who commands respect a track record and someone who would build us for at least five seasons. Someone who has experience of turning around bad runs and can impress his philosophy and personality on the team. It's not Lampard.

It's OK. The club would probably force him to keep Dunc on his staff lol

But no in all seriousness, that's not my main concern. I think modern management doesn't allow for regular tantrums due to the amount of sensitive prima donnas in football these days. He would have that hunger which is crucial. He would understand that Everton teams must fight and be resilient, but he's been taught under the most tactically astute, progressive manager in the game. I would hope that would soon start to show in our play over time. We need a balance. We need to keep trying to play on the front foot, but we've lost our spirit and hunger for a physical battle. I think Arteta represents someone who would recognise both sides of the coin.

Of course this is a pretty emotional heart over head thing from me. But I really do think we could do far far worse. It's left field but with a very high ceiling. Everything we do is inside the box. Bland, overrated, overhyped flavours of the month. This is a gamble but it excites me. I wanna roll the dice for once.

Big Sam was too negative Silva is too idealistic when we don't have the players to be so open. We need a more flexible manager. The best German managers have that blend of pragmatism and personality.

Gerrard and Lampard have less experience than Silva they may turn out to be good managers. But this is a big and tough job. We need someone with experience of turning around the bleeding titanic, not a rookie.
