It's OK. The club would probably force him to keep Dunc on his staff lol

But no in all seriousness, that's not my main concern. I think modern management doesn't allow for regular tantrums due to the amount of sensitive prima donnas in football these days. He would have that hunger which is crucial. He would understand that Everton teams must fight and be resilient, but he's been taught under the most tactically astute, progressive manager in the game. I would hope that would soon start to show in our play over time. We need a balance. We need to keep trying to play on the front foot, but we've lost our spirit and hunger for a physical battle. I think Arteta represents someone who would recognise both sides of the coin.

Of course this is a pretty emotional heart over head thing from me. But I really do think we could do far far worse. It's left field but with a very high ceiling. Everything we do is inside the box. Bland, overrated, overhyped flavours of the month. This is a gamble but it excites me. I wanna roll the dice for once.
Thing is Mike phelan has the best management apprenticeship under fergie.

It didn't work for him as manager at hull.

Thers so many examples of great number twos being crap managers.

Very true. This is just my gut instinct that he'd be very good.

The arsenal thing is what convinces me. If Arsenal thought he was worth such long consideration, then I trust their judgement more than I would Moshiri's anyway.

But Billy! Lamps has got - Respect! A track record! Would probably stay five years ( he,s young enough ) He,s never experienced a bad run! Has got intelligence, philosophy, personality, and more experience of Prem and Europe than ANYBODY new to management. ( including Gerard )

It’s not that leftfield. He’s like second in the odds isn’t he?

I dunno. I mean he’s learning from the best but I don’t even think Guardiola could get anything from our boys let alone his apprentice.

Not that right type for me.

All our last few managers have had PL experience and been utter tosh.

I really don't think it's essential. In fact I'd rather try something different. Someone who can unite the fans and will be extremely hungry to succeed. And feel privileged to be our manager. Not like Koeman who acted like we were so lucky to have him and that we were beneath him.

Arteta.
Bringing in untested famous former pros in as manager isn’t different - it’s been done plenty of times over the years, including a few this season.

It generally ends in disaster, especially at the top levels.

Why would Arteta ditch an apprenticeship under the most respected coach in the world to come here? It could be career suicide, or at least a major setback.
