I wanted us to lose last night. Not completely for liverpool, but for the fans.

This wouldn't have been a new thing. Poor run of form and we get a result against a top team under the lights at goodison and we all think we have turned a corner. Then come crashing back down the following game and carry on as normal.

It really is a concern that we are conceding from set pieces so easily after tosun even came out and said we are working on them, apparantly not.

We can't keep going like this, we really can't. We keep conceding the same type goals and the more we do it , the more it will happen.

Silva needs to change this now to have any hope of turning this around because we can't keep going behind a manager who isn't coaching the players

I still think he can turn it around. Positive signs last night. Davies looked very good. Let’s get behind him. He looks like he’s here to stay until next season anyway. How about we crate an environment for him to call out the players and spark improvement rather than one where Moshiri feels compelled to fire yet another manager.

Didmt watch it so can't really comment to much. However we conceded another goal from a set play. He just isn't learning

Defending set pieces isn’t just about the 2 CBs. Keane and Zouma are both decent in the air individually. The whole team need to contribute to defending set pieces though and for some reason Silva can’t get them organised, he’s clearly had similar issues before. It’s a problem that should be easily solved. We need a new defensive coach to work with them on it in my opinion.

This is my point, it isn't though, because our players simply aren't very good at it.

Sam - a supposed specialist - didn't get us sorted last year from set pieces. As a team - a unit - we've been crap at them for years.

Keane and Zouma should be the ones organising the team on the pitch, yet neither of them do. They both just lose their own men/fail to clear the ball when it's in their zone.

This is what I'm saying. You say it's an easy fix. Well it isn't, because our players keep making the same mistakes which keep costing us.

....looked more energy in the team last night. Not sure if that was because Sigurdsson was replaced, but it’s a selection worth another try. On the down side, not a single shot on target is a disappointment.

What does he do now then? Silva said its become a mental thing so does he give up on Keane and Zouma for now, play Mina and/or Jags? Back 3?

We looked much better moving up the pitch today and the initial line-up suitted the 4-3-3 well which Silva should get credit for, but how much longer can he persist with these two?

I think we need two systems. A 4-3-3 and a 3-5-2/3-4-3 (which I've said for ages). Been better on the ball will ultimately - in theory - lead to us conceding less fouls etc for one.

In terms of the organisation from set-pieces, whatever Silva is doing isn't working at the moment. That much is clear and it's on him to sort out.

But the players need to be the ones doing their jobs and he can only do so much for that. None of our players moved towards the ball yesterday. They got done by a dummy run and then were lost. Silva himself has said publicly that he wants the players to be more aggressive going for the ball. He can't actually run for them.

He will never turn this around if 1. He can’t make the best of the squad and adopt. 2. He cannot organise a defence and we keep conceding through setpieces. 3. Fail to beat the lesser teams in particular at home.

Keep him till May then get a proven manager in. We can’t keep employing unproven individual hoping he can do a Klopp.

It did, then I looked at his record at Hull and Watford, where he had worryingly similar poor stats. Hardly a coincidence, is it?

Nope, as I say in my post, whatever he's doing clearly isn't working.

But Keane was crap from set-pieces for us last year. Zouma was crap from them for a Stoke side that got relegated. Those two are consistently involved in our worst set-piece mistakes, so it probably doesn't help.

Surely if it's drilled into them in training non-stop it will finally make a difference?

Do we really need to work on much other stuff at the moment? Just work on general fitness and set pieces for a couple of weeks before they can do them. Players hate practicing them, but sod it, they're so bad at them that they've lost any recourse to complain at this stage

That is concerning

He likes abdicating responsibility doesn't he?

These are the quotes:

"Really frustrating for us, a big frustrating. To lose one goal at 47 minutes, and the other 97 minutes.

"At the moment, it is not because I don't respect you, but I don't want to talk more about set pieces. Everything I want to say, I will tell our players. They already know.

"Everyone is so negative, but I understand why you ask me about this situation. It is so negative because there is something here [points to head] the mind of our players. Of course, we have to work more and do more. I agree it was a really tough moment, but a strong character of players and we reacted like we reacted in the second half."
