Kopite just texted me and said the obvious. That Pickford error in the derby has ripped all confidence and heart out of the team. Shows how weak we are mentally if that is the case. This despite having players within the team who have played for Brazil and Barcelona’s first team and numerous internationals. Whoever comes to this club, we seem to be cursed with their inability to perform in big games, today we can add the manager to that list as frankly his tactics were naive.

We’ve been competitive in every game bar todays whereas under Koeman we were getting routinely ripped apart including in the Europa league

The mind plays tricks eh? Watford ripped us apart the other night (and we got very lucky) , West Ham have also ripped us apart this season (now Spurs) and we have struggled against Newcastle and Huddersfield and thrown away leads at Wolves and Bournemouth.

Don't think that because we nearly got a point at Anfield we've been more competitive. We got a point away at Man City under Koeman and should have won. We narrowly lost 2-1 at home to what we now know are a very classy Lyon team who beat City in the CL this season. We were as competive in the first 9 games under Koeman as we have been in the last 9 under Silva.

Koeman bought his own team and it was disfunctional to say the least. Silva is still working with Brands on remedying that debacle and to suggest his dismissal would be ‘fair and consistent’ after 6 months is surely a wind up.

Silva has made progress in both our playing style and the actual quality of our first 11. Yeah he got it wrong today definitely but a bit of patience and perspective please.
A lot of his problems were down to the structure. I think the DOF structure is overrated and leads to passing the buck, and for the head coach to not have the control he needs.

You’re right we’ve thrown away points but we were still competitive in any game where we we’ve gotten a draw by definition... only a couple times have we had no way back.
