But he is making it worse?

Thing is yeah there is a lot to be done, but in his two previous jobs he showed zero signs of being able to do that.

You can hardly judge ability to turn around a squad in the medium term on ~50 games for two teams.

All going in the right direction. Happy with his style, his pre-game tactics (generally) and everything he’s implemented structurally. The team spirit looks superb. But I think he’s weaker on in-game decision-making (both subs and tactics).

There are no consequences for poor performance, due to the severe lack of depth.

That said, its the lethargy with which we seem to get stuck in for many games, that we can't seem to shake off, and has been bedeviling the club since 2014.

We only react when we go a goal behind, and then its too late.

In the absence of enough quality to see us have an off day and still win, I demand 110% physical effort and aggression, I demand that anyway, but we don't get it near often enough. Alone, that would be worth more points, the possible difference between 11th and 7th.

Silva, to date, hasn't shown he is yet able to address that problem. It is a huge worry.

I know it doesn't make a difference that he isn't more demonstrative on the sideline, but with the crop of players we have and have had, I would be more re-assured with a Conte type manager constantly shouting at and haranguing the players.

I'm not saying get rid of Silva, but it is so bloody frustrating this. The club has to be dragged kicking and screaming from the torpor we are in.
Shouting at players and constantly gesticulating seems more important in the TV age.

The greater issue with Silva is he has never been a long term success anywhere, yet we have tasked him with building our squad and team ethos.

Frustrating if we've got it wrong again and another year or 2 is wasted is what's getting to me, with arsenal and man utd suddenly looking so poor now and the last few seasons was a good time to try and break into the top 4. Yet here we are dithering around in mid table getting rolled by teams we shouldn't

But it's still an IF. For me at least Silva is a gamble that could come off. A promise of the possibility of something more.

The two previous managers were a virtual guarantee of NOTHING. Now there was a waste of time. Managers with a limit and a ceiling to what they could achieve.

If it doesn't work out then I guess you would have to hope Brands will have an influence on who is next and we will have a plan before getting rid.

No idea what you see in Silva that makes you think he is a ‘gamble that could come off’.

We played crap football but finished 8th with BFS, Silva has a simple target, equal or better it. There is no reason that shouldn't be achievable looking at the clubs around us. Anything less is a failure. Wouldn't be surprised if we finished 11th and out the cup in round 4.

Plus we'll end up going bankrupt if we keep firing managers.

Why cant we?

Im being serious maybe if the club had a ruthless streak in it instead of this plucky Everton crap we might have actually done something these last 23 years.

Everything about this club from top to bottom screams "ah too bad we'll try another day".

Its shocking how far this club has fallen and no one seems arsed to try help the old girl up

But we're 'The People's Club'. Cant go getting into people's faces or upsetting the status quo.

Just look at that reaction from then lot. I have never, ever seen Everton react like that after going a goal down, or even a goal ahead.

I guess that's symptomatic across a lot of the Premier League clubs in a way. As long as you didn't get relegated there are no other repercussions to playing badly, not giving effort or even losing.

But there is and has always been something about the Everton I know. From the People's Club label, the Martinez mural rubbish, keeping around the dead weight longer than needed, see Howard, Hibbo & Jags etc, the constant need to bring up the past. It's all just rather sad and petty.

I wasn’t going to judge him on this season, and I don’t plan on starting now. He is experimenting a bit which I can get behind. I think we are desperate for another goalscorer. Other than that we are decent enough.

Progressive. Young. Wants his team's to attack the other side even away at the bigger sides.

Failing us landing a big name with more guarantee of success then this is he type of coach we need. You can argue we should have picked some other example of that type of coach who wasn't a big name, but they too would be a gamble.

To move ahead we need that type of coach and it will involve patience if it doesn't work right away.

What we definitely don't need is more % football that may possibly in a a freak season get us a cup but in the long run gets us nowhere fast. We have had that for the majority of the last 25yrs and won NADA.

It's not going well right now this month, but let's see at the end of the season.
