We were still mediocre. Ok, the players seemed more together, but ultimately they were still the bottle jobs we have now. I'd rather not bother woth the Europa league at all tbh. We need to go hard for the CL should we ever have the players or manager to achieve that.
But we would surely take such “mediocrity” now!

Considering the way the league is at the moment I don´t think we can turn our noses up at any European football. We would find it ridiculously difficult to go from no European football to Champions League level anyway. Natural progression is definitely Europa League.
Also, win the Europa and you get the Champions League. Definitely worth the hassle. Remember Mourinho gambled everything in his first season to get in through that route after falling out of the top four?

The chances of us finishing ahead of 2 of the top 6 right now is fantasy anyway. We just need to take anything we can get. A decent European run to make up for last season´s calamity is in order too.

I just don't think this squad is ready in anyway, shape or form for European football. The hectic schedule and it's dramatic effect on us has proved that to me. Obviously I want us to be the best we possibly can but just don't think we would benefit from Thursday Sunday football right now. Need another 4 or 5 top players for that.

No difference between 6th and 12th to me mate. If we're not winning stuff then it isn't good enough.

Exactly. I don’t like the way he left, but I also do not like all the revisionism about his time here. Biggest mistake of his career was leaving the club. At the same time, we were still under Bill then, so it is understandable he wanted to go somewhere with more money.
I wanted Moyes gone for a good three years before he left. He was and still is a total bottle merchant who'd reached his glass ceiling here and was never going to break through due to his own negitivey but yeah I hate the nonsense lies that get told about his time here. He did an excellent job for seven to eight years (and even the last three were better then anything after) and he was very well liked by the majority of our fans prior to him leaving, far more so then anyone who's come since. It's only online that some fans have decided to rewrite history and pretend it was always awful under him and everyone hated him.

Frankly if Silva or whoever follows him here ends up half as well liked as Moyes was for the bulk of his time here, they'll of done very well for themselves.

Under Moyes? Only in 03-04. The rest of his time here was far better then anything that's happened since with the exception of that first fluke season under Martinez which was only a slight improvement on the one we'd had before under Moyes. This season has been far worse then the vast majority of Moyes's time here. You've got to go back to Walter Smith to find a worse run then what we've seem in the last few years.

You forget the 4-0 tonkings at home by Bolton and West Brom, the 4-0 on Boxing Day at Villa, the 7-0 at Arsenal days after qualifying for the CL, 5-1 at City, 5-2 at Spurs, Bucharest, the 6-1 against Arsenal days before sold Lescott and the 5-0 at Benfica when Coleman made his debut as well as tonkings at Chelsea in League and cup games

Yeah, I think we would struggle to cope with it but if you want to be a top club it´s absolutely necessary. We´ve probably got enough players in the squad for it if you recall everyone from loan but they aren´t good enough.

I am very sceptical on whether Silva is the right man and is even capable of moving us forward tbh as apart from playing more attacking football and a couple of decent signings, we are still mostly proper gash and millions of miles away from even being the best of the rest, never mind catching the Sky 6.

We have definitely got to give him time though and would be better just writing this season off as we have zero chance of doing anything of note. It would be insane to get rid of another manager so soon and start the process all over again and it wouldn't achieve anything and would just send us even further backwards into the abyss. Any Manager would need a few transfer windows and a couple of seasons at least just to get rid of the mediocrity mentality and cant be assed attitude that is rife in this club.

Everton cannot be fixed in one season by any Manager on the Planet so we will just have to be patient i guess. Very hard not to get frustrated, angry and disappointed in the meantime though, then again we are used to it as Evertonians as it has been like that for a few years now. Bring back the 80s and 90s please, god i loved watching the blues back then when we were sometimes actually good.

When does the season end ffs. :D

There's 2 windows between now and the start of next season, so why couldn't the squad be prepared for Europe? Surely that's part of the planning happening right now for the summer, list A regardless, list B to supplement should it be a season in Europe.

I rember them all pal. They were terrible, embarrassing results all of them. But they were also spread out over eleven years. We've seen results just as bad over the last couple of years alone. Also we didn't have a pot to piss in back then.

Little harsh to blame him for the 6-1 againt Arsenal, more on the club and Lescott that one but the others, sure.

The fix would mean we are challenging the top 6 (CL). I think it’s not reasonable if the time is given for him to get the 7th place trophy with huge fees being spent because Fat Sam was sacked for getting 8th.
No he wasn't. He was sacked for playing the most boring unimaginative ambitionless football ever known to mankind. The position in the table was irrelevant.

I begs to differ.

If we cannot win “stuff” then the best we can hope for is to win matches.

And as finishing 6th means a team has won more matches than a team which finishes 12th then I would say there is a heck of a difference.

Because the less I walk away from the ground feeling as empty as I did today the better I like it :(

My mood alters greatly for the better when EFC win matches......so give me 6th over 12th any old day :)
