No he wasn't. He was sacked for playing the most boring unimaginative ambitionless football ever known to mankind. The position in the table was irrelevant.
Disagree. It wasn't just style, we weren't good. He gained us 2 points on the field while spending 50M in the winter. He didn't get jack out of the team. He didn't have to deal with anything Koeman did and still didn't fare much better.

I’ve recently decided to be more patient with the whole thing. Just because getting angry about them doesn’t do me any good.

But I can totally understand people questioning things at the minute.

First point is a reasonable approach.

Second point I think is reasonable but really, it isn't just questioning. It's just criticism after criticism.

I don't think we've gone backwards overall but in recent weeks - since the derby - we've definitely regressed from where we were in October/November. That's a worry and Silva does need to fix it.

But he also needs more time.

I begs to differ.

If we cannot win “stuff” then the best we can hope for is to win matches.

And as finishing 6th means a team has won more matches than a team which finishes 12th then I would say there is a heck of a difference.

Because the less I walk away from the ground feeling as empty as I did today the better I like it :(

My mood alters greatly for the better when EFC win matches......so give me 6th over 12th any old day :)
Did you feel worse last year when we weren't unlucky, we just got pummelled?

I know it's frustrating, but we aren't getting outplayed.

I get you mate. Obviously finishing 6th would be a whole lot better than finishing 12th, but at this moment in time I'm just absolutely sick to the back teeth of Everton painting stuff like this as a success. We are fine old institution and should be fearing nobody and competing for trophies. I went to Brighton and was appalled by what I saw and you can feel that at Goodison as well when we go a goal down. No one cares any more because we are so used to them bottling games or just strolling around picking up their wage. It was a real struggle to make the effort to go today and that apathy has Infected the whole stadium. Sorry I've gone off on one here but I hope you can see what I'm saying haha.

There's 2 windows between now and the start of next season, so why couldn't the squad be prepared for Europe? Surely that's part of the planning happening right now for the summer, list A regardless, list B to supplement should it be a season in Europe.

I think you'll find more of the players we want will be available in the summer, teams won't want to sell their better players in January. I'm happy for it taking 3 or 4 Windows to sign the right players and become a good team, rather than sign people just for the numbers.

It’s criticism after criticism because we are looking worse and worse.

It’s normal for people to say bad things when we look bad.

He wasn't sacked because of how we played. He was sacked because he was never wanted in the first place and was only hired in because the club once again dropped the ball in sacking Koeman without a workable plan going forward. Everyone knew he was here as a stop gap to see the season out and nothing more. How we played under him was irrelevant, he could of completely reinvented himself, had us playing incredible football and he'd still of been show the door at the end of the season.

Come on mate, we can't do anything other than criticize. It's a forum. It's about discussing the manager who, you have to admit, has huge question marks at the moment and in his Premier League career. As objective as you can be, Silva is underperforming. You know it, I know it, GOD help us if Moshiri doesn't know it. He and the team have been for months. The sooner he can figure out what he/they are doing wrong the faster we can get on to next season. But he doesn't look capable of that and hasn't in his career here.

Very good points made here.
Over time, sadly, we have become accustomed to let downs... players, managers, the BoD, and yes, the fans on the terraces.
We've grown to almost accept mediocrity and not being 'up' there with the media-favoured 'big six'.
The whole mindset around the club has to change and it starts at the top.
Unless the Board refuse to accept any performance or results - on and off the field - that do not meet the very highest standards, we're cream crackered.
But the Board needs to set the standards that must be met - on and off the field - and communicate everything clearly at and to all levels within the club.
We've got a motto that means "Nothing but the Best" - the time we started to live up to that mantra has never been so right !!!

And because he was an odious crook who had pissed off the entire fanbase with his arrogance. Look, I have no idea if Silva has the minerals to make a success of Everton, but I can still see that he’s trying to play football the right way (unlike the last fella). Personally I’m not willing to keep on giving these players a free pass, I saw too many of them underperform again today and while I can forgive mistakes, there was a lot of lads just not taking enough care of the ball.

I want success now. I can’t be arsed with going into work and listen to the Red gloat while I’ve got nothing. I can’t be arsed with spending time and money to go to the match and watch us turn in woeful performances every other week. But it is what it is. As someone else said, we can’t keep flipping the table every season. The only option is to give this time.
