I don’t know why we can’t have a team that can do the basics of at least fighting for every ball. Even some of our poor teams in the 90s could occasionally bully opponents even top sides. I can’t remember the last time we out scrapped any opponent.

We’re still paying Koeman / Martinez.

We had to pay Allardyce off.

If Silva was sacked he’d either have to be paid off or we’d end up paying him for the remainder of his contract.

This is all before we even appointed a new manager.

Ain’t happening

Watford had the balls to sack him when it became apparent how crap he is, and they also had a very high turnover of managers at the time. Mind you, they had little choice in the matter as it was clear that he was taking Watford down when he was sacked.

The scary thing is, if you’re in bad form you try and shore up the defence to stop conceding goals. 4 clean sheets in 21 league games is extremely concerning.

This fella makes Martinez look like a good defensive manager.

The writing is on the wall, it’s only a matter of time before the trigger is pulled.

He's not going to get sacked.

We've been defensively poor since Moyes left, and Jagielka, Distin and Baines regressed/retired. Allardyce ended up putting 10 men behind the ball to keep us sound at the back, which was never going to work in the long run.

The sad fact of the matter is that the team lacks identity at the moment. We've chopped and changed on numerous times since Moyes left, going from a hard to beat workman like side, to an attacking team under Martinez, then went to a side that was capable on the break with Koeman, to one that put 10 men behind the ball with Allardyce, and now a far more expansive attacking side with Silva.

I'm not going to pretend that, since the derby, things have been going well - but the reaction from many members of this forum is embarrassing.

Silva needs to be given the support of the boardroom and the supporters if we are to have any hope of doing something substantial over the next few years. I understand that with them lot doing so well at the moment, it's an incredibly frustrating time to be an Everton supporter - but patience is key.

I said before he was even appointed, you will get absolutely nowhere in this league without having a defensive base to go from.

his stats pointed to the fact that he concedes 2 per game in the prem, but this was seemingly totally over looked.

there is no way brands certified this appointment. if brands actually did ok his appointment then we are in real trouble.

I'm pretty sure he didn't tell Walcott and Keane to fluff headers to the opposition if the keeper takes a quick goal kick and I'm pretty sure against Brighton he didn't tell Zouma and Richarlison to hit the woodwork if they get a chance, not to mention asking Gomes to deflect the ball of his calf into the striker should we get a corner against us.

We are there or there about where we should be in my opinion,

Its going to take more than 21 games or 6 months for Silva to get his system/ethos instilled into the club, I would guess around 80% of the squad are probably not in his long term plans. A lot of these players have worked with 3 managers and are still putting in poor performances, they have to take some responsibility!! It will take time to remove these from the club.

That would be all well and good if Silva had shown even a shred of potential in England, but his record is shocking.

You’re going off blind faith in a flop of a manager.

He will be sacked, it’s a matter of time. 1 win in 8 and going out of cups at home to relegation-threatened sides is not acceptable.

The fact that people are already suggesting that his job may be on the line, let alone asking for him to be sacked, shows how fickle our fan base has become.

We're not playing well at the moment but we have to look medium to long term. Do we want to end up like Watford et al? Having more managers than season!
Would that be like the Watford who are above us in the table having played less games?

Things must be bad.

I'm going off the premise that sacking managers willy nilly is a tinpot club thing to do. It's his first season, for crying out loud.

I think he gets until next Christmas, Silva. That's 2 transfer windows left to shift out the trash (Stekelenberg, Jagielka (please don't give him a new contract), Galloway, Browning, Pennington, Holgate, Martina, Williams (out of contract anyway both of these - as least I hope so), Besic, Schneiderlin, McCarthy, Mirallas, Bolasie, Niasse, Tosun) from our club and get more, better, players in to play the way he wants. One more year we'll have to suck this up, hoping for a major improvement by next November/December when he should have 100% the squad he wants. If we start the season terribly then he needs to be told to do one.

But it isn’t. Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd have regularly changed manager.

We don’t have to stick with a manager who isn’t good enough, just because we’ve sacked a few managers recently.

As I said yesterday, if we want to stop sacking managers, then stop hiring managers like Martinez and Silva who have Premier League relegations on their CV, with little other prestige to back-up any faith in them.
