Marco Silva has said he is not a magician who can conjure Farhad Moshiri’s ambitions for Everton overnight but a manager who can bring stability and build for a successful future.

The Everton manager delivered an impassioned response on Friday to the majority shareholder’s comment, made at the club’s general meeting on Tuesday, that 11th in the Premier League is not good enough. Silva argued that Moshiri’s assessment was taken out of context, with the billionaire also saying the manager retained the board’s total support following a poor run of one win in eight league games.

But he insists Moshiri’s ambitions and demands are no different from his own, and there must be realism about the challenges Everton face to compete alongside the leading pack in the Premier League.

“I know what he thinks about the club and he knows my opinion about the club also,” said Silva. “I know what he asked me to do when I joined. It is not something that can be done in six months because that would not make sense. I did not come here to be a magician. That is not for me. I am a manager and when I came in we had many, many things to change to achieve something in the future. I am sure step by step, with some stability and doing the right things like we did we will achieve that.”

Silva is Everton’s fourth permanent manager since Moshiri bought an initial 49.9% stake in the club almost three years ago. The high managerial turnover, he maintains, is no concern despite recent poor performances and results.

He added: “I understand your curiosity about this situation. What I can tell you about my relationship with our owner, with our chairman [Bill Kenwright] and all the structure of the club is very, very good. I’m not here to make statements about what the club did in the past with one or three managers. I did my homework before I came here and now I am more ready and able to speak about everything at Everton.

“We as a club need patience and we need stability. You cannot change the mood so easy that if we achieve fantastic form you are the best team in the Premier League and after if you don’t have good form in the last four or five games it looks like you are the worst team in the Premier League. We are not the worst team. I know the club and one of the things our club needs apart from quality, good players, a good manager and ambition is some stability.”

This says it all for me and should be read and digested by all fans on here who are far too quick to criticise. I hope he is given time. Unfortunately he will need a lot more financial backing. Noise from the club suggests he may not.

Ha ha funny this. It kinda encapsulates the plight of the super fan.

To be fair even if he said something interesting I would struggle to understand his too cool for school Portuguese murmurings. I do miss a manager I don't have to rewind and play again to catch what they are saying!
Like Big Sam?

Maybe not more, but we will probably need the same level of backing that we have already seen, which is sadly totally unsustainable, hence the club suggesting that it will be toned down a little. For 1 thing Moshiri simply doesnt have enough money to give the club 250m every 3 years.

Since Moshiri took over we have bought 324m worth of players, a Net spend of around 130m, give or take a few mill here and there. Our wage bill has increased from around 84m, to its current high of roughly 140m. Yes other areas of the club have "improved" a slight commercial increase, a major increase in the TV deal.

But only an utter fool would expect the spending that has gone before to increase, as I said above, its unsustainable.

I think we started the summer with a squad of 37 players, a squad that I worked out cost us around 330m to build. Since then we have bought a few players and sold a few more, but our current squad probably cost around 500m to build and that doesnt even include the yoots from the academy.

So we tried throwing money at the problem, but sadly we literally threw the money down the drain, now pick your poison on who is to blame Moshiri, Bill, Steve Walsh, Ronald Koeman, all of the above, honestly its on them all. So now we have a new fella at the helm, sure a few of the old cast is still in place, but as The Mosh says, money alone wont solve this problem, we need stability and we need patience.

What im trying to say is, its not been great and maybe Silva isnt the man we need, but surely anybody needs longer than 6months, yes we shouldnt be getting beat by trash teams at home, yes we shouldnt be getting utterly bummed by Spurs and sitting in 11th is far from ideal, but it is what it is.

Anyway.

This ;)

I am happy with the signings they are the sort of players we should go for. It’s just the results. Those draw and loss at home against these crap teams.

I really hope he and the team will turn this around starting from tomorrow. It doesn’t need to be a magician to get 7th and an EL spot.

7th is the bare minimum expectation.Although i wouldn't mind if we finished 11th, and won the FA Cup.But really there's no reason why, we can't go an a good run in the cup, and do well in the league at the same time.
