Getting a bit worried. Not convinced of his style of play. This passing back and across the defence is counter-productive. You get a free kick just inside your own half and within seconds Pickford has the ball, I just don't get that. Hoping it all falls into place with his summer signings though.

Look at the way we defend. We were lucky not to concede today. Need clean sheets hereinafter.

Genuinely would settle for consistency for next season and the team not looking like playing at home gives them nightmares.

Are you saying that DCL is good enough? Why do you think that?

Why do you think our problem is sigurdsson?

I explained above about Sigurdsson.

DCL is totally fine and it's just boring fan narrative/groupthink that makes people think he's not, I've yet to see any legitimate argument as to why he isnt. His scoring rate is fine, he gets into decent positions, he's fast as hell and pretty strong, his link up is good, he's good in the air. He'll probably improve quite a bit over the next season or two as well. Plus Richarlison is much more effective from the left so you gain that from starting DCL too.

I don't think the style of play helps though. Sat there watching pointless passing of a football. I want to see balls in behind their full backs, between the defenders, between the full back and centre backs and some intensity. I think the style of play has people bored senseless. The referee today was actually a blessing in disguise as it got the fans going and it rubbed off on to the players who started battling. Loved seeing some battles were our players were helping each other.

Not pretty and poor first half but improved in the second half and pulled out a gritty win today, more of these please.

Speaking to Match of the Day, Everton manager Marco Silva said: "They were an important three points for us. We knew before the match it was important to turn the last few results back our way. Bournemouth started better than us, and they put high pressure on us. We had some problems at the beginning of the match but their best chance came after foul on Kurt Zouma.

"After the break we started to play and we created chances. We scored and then they reacted but we did well in that moment before we scored the second. Even if 2-0 is a tough result to take for them, we deserved the points and our players showed big personalty and character as a team."

On Ademola Lookman's performance: "It was a fantastic performance and we know he is at that level, but he will improve more and more. It was tough to put his mind in the right way and I have been working hard with him, but I have no doubts he will create big things in his career.

"Criticism and pressure is something normal for me as a coach. I started at 34 and it is not important. I want good results and I know why I came here to Everton, and I know our project. I am the first person to criticise myself but I am also realistic."

None of that his true though. He’s fairly strong. He isn’t fast. He’s average in the air. His touch is poor. His scoring record isn’t great. His movement and his thought process is terrible. He has poor positional sense and he has poor instincts.

And you didn’t really explain why sigurdsson isn’t working.

His scoring rate is terrible, he doesn’t get into good positions enough (remember the other week where Bernard played it across six yard box and he was nowhere), he doesn’t win enough in the air, his first touch is terrible, he’s greedy, he can’t finish but apart from that he’s alright.

Very difficult to have a discussion about this sort of thing with people who will apparently say with a straight face that DCL isn't fast

It’s not really difficult to have a discussion at all though is it? It should be fairly easy.

It’s cool mate. No need to engage at all. You can resort to being patronising. It’s understandable.

I’ve seen DCL play football and literally none of the things that you have postulated are true. He may have pace but empirically that doesn’t seem to be the case. Unless you mean relatively to, say, me and you.

(Although I’m dead fast).

A lot of justified criticism of the sideways and backwards passing today. Interesting to know whether that's at the insistence of the manager or a matter of players not making the runs when they need and those further back not being confident enough to try and make those attacking passes and opting for the safe option instead.

Statistically though we're two points off 7th and have the best goal difference outside the top 6. At least that's something slightly positive. And for the record DCL is fast.
