The race for 7th is on.7th place is our glass ceiling at the moment. And that will remain so, in the short to medium term future. It's going to take a lot of time resources and patience, to break into that elite.Koemans squandered millions, and Big Sam and his durge football. That's the low base that we're coming from.I do not expect Silva, to fix all our problems at the click of his fingers.

Time can work both ways and he may put us further in the gutter...then suddenly u are competing with Aston Villa...

But we are not in the gutter and a bit more time than 6 months is only fair. We cannot expect miracles in such a short space of time. Think next Christmas if we are still inconsistent and not improved then he will be in trouble. That means he will have this months and a summer window to improve more. His signings have been good so far so a few more good signings then the ability to gell them is needed to survive but I wouldn't say he is in immediate danger....far from it.

It's lunacy to even consider Marco's position this early into his Everton career. He is a good fit for Everton and he needs to be given time. I know things are not good enough at the moment but the only thing that will fix it is time.

I witnessed some awful Everton performances when Kendal was in his first stint as manager. It takes at least 3 to 4 seasons to remold and reshape a team. By all means, let the players know what we expect of them. Marco knows what we expect and we need to let him know that we are behind him. He will repay that faith.

Have to agree with getting rid at this point is lunacy, but with caveats, being dragged into relegation this season which was on the cards yesterday if we had lost, relegation would be unimaginable bad for Everton FC. And being similarly inconsistent next season with reflecting points tally.

You just have to look at the squad.

Players signed by Marco: Digne, Mina, Richarlison Bernard, Zouma, Gomes.

The rest of the team is a hybrid of mismatched players from the Moyes, Martinez, Koeman and Allardyce eras.

And you thought you thought you had stress at work. :)

Our best players arrived in the pay window so we should afford Silva the same as we would any manager and give him a number of seasons and transfer windows to bed in his ideas (unless we look like relegation is likely which is what did for Koeman)

Also think that comparison of the same number of points as Allardyce is harsh. Allardyce had a great run over Christmas before then then tailing off but getting enough points to be 8th. The media comparisons make it out like we had the same number of points with Silva as we did at our lowest ebb under Koeman/Unsworth last season. The reality is that at no point this season have we been even concerned by relegation, and that last season in January under Allardyce we were probably harbouring hopes of pushing for Europe (before we slumped again) which has been Silva’s remit all season.

As far as personality goes I can't think of a manager who would sort us more, defo the right 'man' for the job, just hope he gets it right tactically going forward
Have I missed some sort of rumour that Marco is actually a woman, or is that just an unfortunate use of inverted commas? Either way, I probably would.

I’m tired of hearing this now, people championing our performances at Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man u. We have picked up 1 point from those four, and 2 wins away all season. That’s not even mentioning the capitulation to Bournemouth, the pathetic performance at Brighton. The away league table has us 14th. 14th. And before people say the performances have been an improvement at the top clubs: we lost to Man U, Liverpool, City and Arsenal. All before Christmas.
I agree to a point, but I think it’s relevant to talk about those games at this point.

We had a hard fought win yesterday where we didn’t play well but gutsed it out. A lot of people then come on to say we didn’t play well it’s terrible. But then when someone says we played well in some other games, it gets shouted down by saying we didn’t win them. So is it just the points that matter then? Or is it the performances? We can’t have it both ways, just criticising for criticisings sake. Obviously we’d all love for us to outplay the opposition and win every week but we’re a good few years off that yet I think.

To me it’s a positive. I look at us playing well and competing against good sides, and then us battling and winning games when we’ve been poor, and hope that at some point we can put the 2 together.

I’ve no idea if silva is the answer but this tiresome questioning of him regardless of the result/performance is not doing anyone any favours really.

Well he does smouldering moody look very well, like my Mrs, when she found she was coming along to the Lincoln match with our lad, it must be Portuguese thing about being happy...

One thing I noticed yesterday was the players reaction to the manager. There is no way Silva is unpopular or not liked. Yes results have been iffy but he seems to have the dressing room right on his side. Zouma's reaction after scoring, Digne was over having a man hug, he doesn't shout at them he treats them like adults and there seems to be a respect. I hope he stays for the long run

Looks like everyone is behind him judging from their reaction. Hope the players pick up some confidence for the away game at Soton.

Yesterday we showed some fight. The manager and the players delved deep in the second half, and the crowd responded. I know it's hard to do that for a complete game, every game, and that there will be dips and lulls, but keep on at it Marco. Gotta fight to be able to have a platform to play the pretty stuff. If you only come up with a spine made out of steel this season, you'll have done more than the last few managers.
