Most better than Pickford.

No they weren't come on. Yes he should be doing better but outside of the big names in GK position I would argue we have got a keeper of our level.
It's not just Pickford but he isn't a calming influence, if anything he makes the defence more erratic it seems, but it's hard to name a name we could have who would be markedly better week in week out, without paying £70m and hoping they don't want European football.

I know we havent been all that these last few months, but claiming Everton is a sunderland/championship level club is not fair to the rest of our squad.

Well I certainly wouldn't classify this as a disaster. As I thought I made quite clear, 7th would have been seen by most reasonable fans as a pretty decent season, and if we'd won on Saturday that's where we'd be. I don't really see how we can think it's a total disaster when we could be 7th again after our next game.

Our long term ambition is hopefully to compete with the top 6 but do you really think that's what our current ambition is? You're a fool if you do. If that was the case we wouldn't even have appointed Silva in the first place, and we wouldn't have heard from our owner just a week ago about how we couldn't afford to pay the wages of the type of players the top 6 have as standard. If we're going to join the elite it will be a slow process, I've said before that Moshiri hasn't helped the situation by suggesting it could be done quickly, but if you really think our spending this summer was enough to get us competing with the big boys you've set yourself up for a pretty big fall.

The metrics you're using are awful, because they're comparable to previous seasons. If we usually beat all the top 6 away and this season we hadn't it would be a fair criticism, but considering half this board probably weren't even born last time we won at some of those grounds it's pretty pathetic to use it as a stick to beat him with.

I acknowledged that Silva is underachieving, but I don't apologise for saying it's stupid to call for his head right at this moment. If Brands thinks Silva was the wrong appointment and has someone in mind to replace him then maybe we could look at that at the end of the season, but unless we look in danger of going down it would be absolute madness to do it now.

I don't think people want him gone now really; but I think people are hoping Brands/Moshiri have looked at this and made their minds up for the summer to get rid. Start putting out feelers now, making plans - instead of everything being a last minute "SIGN BOLASIE QUICK!" panic as per usual.

Basically, Allardyce was essentially sacked from around February last season - the same needs to happen again, but this time bring in a manager who has proven he knows what he's doing in this league.

Most better than Pickford.

Who is "most" of that list? Mhyre & Gerrard were two of the worst keeps I've ever seen play live. Pickford may make mistakes but he also makes the occasional good save - those two made even more mistakes and generally played like they were scared of the ball hitting them, nevermind making saves.

And that's fair enough I think. The flip side of course is that I would like to think Brands was sensible enough to have a plan that he realised may not lead to an instant impact. I've said before, I'm not saying Silva is the answer or claiming i'm seeing something that others aren't, i'm just hoping that what we're seeing now isn't supposed to be the finished article, and we actually have a proper plan on how to improve. If that's the case, there's no reason to believe that Silva can't successfully implement that plan.

Absolutely agree with this. The idea that a manager should also come in and improve the players already at his disposal, is a concept lost on several blues.

Digne, Gomes and Richarlison have been good in patches this season, all new signings. Mina & Bernard i'm less keen on, personally. But I would have hoped to see Davies, Kenny, DCL and / or Lookman kick on. Keane, Walcott, Tosun and / or Sigurdsson reinvigorated. Perhaps a renaissance from Seamus.

We've seen none of that, sadly.

Lookman, Sigurdsson and DCL look considerably better than last year.

Kenny did well when he was given a chance, much better than last year but he’s still young and taking him out at the right time is key to his development.

Keane, well he just looks a completely different player.

To say he hasn’t improved players is just wrong. Some have stayed the same (Pickford, Walcott etc.), a fair few have improved (DCL, Lookman, Sigurdsson), some considerably (Keane).

Results haven’t improved but can do very quickly and often do as shown by Liverpool getting 4th on goal difference on the last day of the season now flying at the top. United finishing 2nd looking like they can’t kick a ball at one stage. Ourselves under Kendal etc.

I have no doubt we’ll pick up soon. Long term, we need to stop experimenting (which obviously will happen), we still need more quality, clearly a striker and an edge to our game where every result matters however the results will turn and we are very capable of winning this FA cup.

I was fully on board with this being a transition season. I expected us to struggle. However, I expected Silva to use it as a learning season and tinker/see what works best with various players.

Unfortunately, despite early encouraging signs, I'm now seeing alarming amounts of Martinez-level "do the same thing over and over again and expect different results" behaviour from him.

He doesn't have the CV to suggest it's a blip either; this is the same type of collapse as at Watford, the same cluelessness in tactical awareness and motivational skill.

So personally I now don't see the point in persisting with him. Southampton tipped me over the edge, and I think it did for a lot of people. There's got to at least be little green shoots of recovery to give fans hope - but all of those signs lay away from the manager.
