Just seen the interview. Pretty clear he wants the move and looks like it'll be down to him to force the hand of his board.

Be interesting to see their fans reaction to him tomorrow. I'd be fuming if a manager of ours gave a response like that when asked about managing another club. I'd imagine this will pick up some pace now given his response. Hopefully have him in by next weekend.

Higher up the 'food chain' maybe, but that doesn't mean there's any kind of guarantee or entitlement. Watford can still say 'no', and by the sounds of it, if they do that enough, Everton may give up and look elsewhere.

I don't think there's any argument over who the 'bigger club' is, but the fact that £10m was allegedly rejected suggests Watford aren't going to accept just any offer cap-in-hand.

Sure, but 99 times out of 100 this ends one way and one way only. Especially with managers.

And who can blame him? Managers can see their careers ruined at the top level by one bad job somewhere - he'd be stupid not to progress up the 'food chain' whilst he can.

And that applies to us too. When Koeman came, we understood we took him off a smaller club in Southampton and if he did well we'd lose him to a bigger club like Barcelona. Silva will be no different, but unlike Watford fans we seem to understand that fact of life in modern football a bit more clearly.

But they weren’t, were they?

Neither dead nor buried.

They had done a Lazarus.

With three games to go they were two points clear of the drop zone.....with Sunderland coming to town.

They proceeded to lose that game....then got walloped 4-0 at Palace the following week.

So having got out of the grave, they jumped straight back in again.

Four points from the eighteen available in the last six games :hayee:

It is insanity to even think of paying Watford ten million quid to release him from his contract.

Especially as the way Watford are going at the moment he might be available for free before much longer
In my opinion (any many others) Hull were so far gone and he performed almost a miracle. If he hadn’t got Hull in to a position where they could have actually survived I bet your opinion of him would be higher.

You surely can’t use the result against us as a stick to beat him with.

;):p:hayee:

In any case, who would you want in instead that would do a better job? Don’t say Ancelotti or Simeone.

Perhaps, but I don't know; the way I've interpreted it, it sounds like he's not going to kick up too much of a stink if Watford say no, even if he is interested in hearing what Everton have to say. Back in the Summer, he was a man in demand by a number of clubs in the UK and abroad. Who knows, he may be acutely aware that Everton might not be the only club impressed by his positive start to the season.
