Most definitely higher, not qualifying for Europe and getting to a cup final is a failure in my eyes and that's bare minimum. The team doesn't need this big miraculous rebuild that everyone is banging on about, we finished comfortably in 7th by a massive margin of points and had the 5th best defence in the league only last season. An actual manager, injuries coming back and a striker, LB and CB in January will have us looking like the team we are and pushing the top 6 again. It's bad atm cuz Koeman lost the players and bought 4 number 10s and didn't buy a forward and another CB instead. I've no doubt come January with a new manager we'll be looking down the table from a height. As for your A or B options, totally agree with you and I think we'll all find out before Saturday.

Will depend on the incoming managers choice of formation. Silva prefers playing a 3-5-1-1 style and, not knowing your squad, that may need a greater amount of incoming players as compared to a different formation

It's a good point, and one that's probably concentrated minds in the Watford boardroom.
Yes. All the press about this is about how Watford are acting disgracefully.

@Youorns84 it appears that I'm in the minority of posters on here that haven't insulted you yet.

Can I ask you an honest question ?

Who would you like as your next manager once Silva goes ?.

There's a few available that have coached in the Prem at the mo :

Koeman.
Pullis.
Bilic.
Allardyce.

Thanks in advance x

As for the above comments, people can insult me as they wish. They are doing so on the basis that I have in some way tried to insinuate that Watford are as big a club as Everton. Never said that, not that stupid. Everton were, are and have always been a bigger club. Bigger fan base, more history, larger stature in the game etc etc. I’ve been drawn into fun comments and banter on here from some because that’s what makes a forum an interesting read. I’ve never purposely tried to come across as bullish or inciteful, more just playful if anything!

If Silva joins you, which I don’t think he will, I will post a message congratulating you on getting your man - all’s fair in love and football etc. Likewise, if Silva doesn’t join you, I will post a message saying good luck for the rest of the season anyway - I have no problem with Everton, would rather see you’s at the top table than some of the other teams up there.

As for your exact question - none of the above. And Watford wouldn’t hire anyone of the above, of that I’m quite sure. Hopefully I won’t have to find out though...

I’ve tried to post a few times about the way our club is run, why we’ve gone through the managers we have and the mitigating circumstances around it. I’ve only done that so you guys can speculate about what may or may not be happening with actual facts about us, rather than the stuff the likes of Merson and Lawrenson regurgitate because they don’t know and are far too lazy to find out.

I don’t sit here professing that you won’t get Silva. You might. It’s taking a long time though and depending what colour tinted glasses you wear, you can make your own minds up why it is.

As for all the Elton John, 1984 stuff. We’ve heard it all before but I understand you came out on the correct side of history so it’s only natural to expect that to be used against us. And yes we play in yellow. And yes we’ve never won anything. And yes, to my disgust, the city voted for Brexit. But Kenwright works in Musical theatre so some things go both ways!

Thanks, succinct and to the point.

Ps - I'll rephrase, who would you like as your next manager ?

Mate, you backed the last manager of this club - a man who single handedly put us in the bottom three; wasted £200M on trash; sold, alienated or loaned out our best players, and put us back 10 years as an organisation.

YOU backed that man and his regime.

You have no hand to play here, honestly you dont.
I love how the shoe is on the other foot now. Dave is fie.

Sadly we need about 10 incoming to make any system work, Pickford can stay.

If Everton and Watford were to reach a deal for Marco Silva it will be expensive for us, but I expect that it isn't all paid out on the first day, but staggered including targets to be reached for the full amount to be paid over, similar to the transfer of players.

I would not be surprised that sacking RK meant that possibly Southampton will not get the full amount agreed.

If a deal is being negotiated with Watford I expect that putting a package together could be long and tedious and would explain the absolute silence from all three parties... which is very professional from all concerned.
