I know it's just frustration, but we need to stop saying the board are shambolic for ignoring all those top managers that would come to us. That simply can't be the case. The board are guilty of many things but they will want the best manager they can get and afford - we won't have ignored Ancelotti, Tuchel, Simeone etc etc. Firstly if they wanted the job, the agent would have been on the phone, secondly we will have had at least a communication to say are you interested or not very early on. These guys are looking at top four teams in the top four leagues in the world and are not really motivated by money any more. As some have said, we are shopping in the next level down so we go for proven in the premier like Dyche etc. or a young bright manager like Silva. Fingers crossed it comes off.

I can’t place what it is I don’t like about him.

Oh yeah. It’s another manager over performing at smaller club and we’re hoping he can over perform here.

Hope he does well like but we’ve tried this a lot.

You mean like Southampton and Espanyol?

Like Aberdeen with Fergie?

All great managers have to start somewhere!

..the other thing is that every appointment we make carries risk. No matter who we eventually acquire, some will be for him, some will be against him, some will post encouraging statistics, some will post negative statistics. Regardless of what we all think, only time will demonstrate if the appointment has been a success.

There’s no magic wand, we just hope Moshiri & co make the right choice.

I don't wanna go of topic but this board have run us not so good. Selling your star striker and not replacing him or the goals for me was to much.

Anyway if we get silva I would be 50/50 on him but he's still better than the dross we've been linked with

Of those we are likely to be able to get, Silva sort of appeals as a potential next Pochettino-type but not sure whether he really has the credentials. He hasn't actually managed that many games in the Prem. Interesting to compare their records. I guess a 36% win rate with Hull was ok if you think Poch only had 38.3% with Southampton with better players - but could he make the same step up and do we have the players that would enable him to do so that match his style?

Silva
Hull City P22 W8 D3 L11 F25 A43 GD−18 (36.36%)
Watford P12 W4 D3 L5 F19 A24 GD−5 (33.33%)

Poch
Southampton P60 W23 D18 L19 (38.3%)
Tottenham Hotspur P180 W99 D41 L40 (55.0%)

There are other top managers outside of the ones you quoted who would give anything to be given the chance of managing us in the PL. Managers with experience, managers who are already winners, managers with excellent coaching skills yet our board seem to have ignored them and are not looking down these channels, instead they seem to follow media and hype and we end up with someone like Silva. Not that I think he's a bad coach/manager just that I think we could and should be doing better.

You never know what's gonna happen. Take a look at Maurizio Sarri - he managed 9 clubs before settling at Empoli, where he had like 39% of wins. He's now one of the most rated managers in a world footie.

I'd say hiring manager is always a gamble nowadays. No matter who you pick.

This is of course the correct response to any appointment.
