I asked this yesterday and couldn't get a straight answer. Watford and Silva could put out a joint statement and it all be over but instead it rumbles on and on.

Let’s guess at this scenario:

Silva wanted to come to Everton but, having viewed his options, would only go with the owners consent
The owners refused
Silva is happy to stay at Watford but doesn’t want to burn any bridges and doesn’t feel the need for a statement as his bosses have categorically stated that Silva is staying at Watford

From Watford's point of view cashing in at this point might be tempting but sets a wrong signal out that when the bigger clubs come run they will just roll over surrender

Pozzo's are very astute owners, would be very surprised if a bigger cheque would sway themThey had some massive offers for Deeney but refused


No release clause from what I've heard .

Everything I've read says release clause. I'd be amazed if, given the breadth of people saying break clause, right from when he signed that it isn't the case.

Fair enough. I didn't know the owners had put a statement out saying that. Can you link it?

Personally I reckon it’s because he wants to stay totally neutral and not be one of the “I’m committed to this club and want to be a part of it for a very long time” before leaving in May types
