I’m not against signing him, its pretty clear at this stage we can’t attract anyone glamorous so have to take a risk with managers like this or go for someone like fat Sam or Dyche. This is our level.

Agreed. The other side of that is that Watford also have funds these days and compared with premier league survival, £10m is a pittance - they paid almost that for Clevs. If Silva staying means they finish 5 places higher, the £10m (which they never budgeted for in the first place) is covered by prize money.

I'd personally rather go after Tuchel and offer him the 10m as a signing on bonus. But I don't think paying big compensation should be a reason not to appoint a manager. In an era of extortionate fees for players then managers should be equally as expensive if not more.

I’d offer him whatever he wanted. And that includes jibbing Walsh off if he doesn’t want a Director of Football.

There were strong rumours that the Watford Directors were approached at the match that day. They may have only sounded Sam out and found he wanted too long. Dyche has not bee contacted as no gossip. I think only Silva approached and Diego was just a line in the water
