For what’s left for us this season, I would cool the interest & let Rhino take the next 5-6 games.

Leave Watford stewing with a manager they know wants to be elsewhere. Let them come back to us.

Five or six games from now they might be regretting not taking the compo from us ;)

They will be hard pushed taking their or four points from their next four games.

With any appointment at any club, there is a huge amount of luck and "clicking" needed to make it a success.

Every appointment is a massive risk, no matter where as everything could unravel with the wrong type of luck.

If Silva comes in it might click here and push us further then we hoped.... or it might spectacularly fail.

Replace Silva for 98% of managers and its still a true statement

Fully agree with this - however, given the Koeman fiasco, and the position it now puts us in, we simply cannot afford (literally) to get it wrong again. We have to be more certain than ever that whoever we choose will deliver the goods - and that's in a very uncertain world!

And all other clubs holding our target managers will fully appreciate this...

It’s interesting...

If you’re EFC: He’s obviously had his head turned and wants the job. Only a matter of time. Happened repeatedly with managers in the past...

If (like me) you’re WFC: We’ve said no. Twice. And aren’t budging it seems. Everton are making a bit of a mess of this.

Until anything new happens, my personal and final current outlook is this: Whether he is or isn’t interested, very few managers say anything outside of Press Conferences. He hasn’t had one since this broke so we await Friday. I still think
It would be very odd for him to release a personal statement saying he’s not interested when all we’ve seen so far is paper talk. It doesn’t indicate to me he’s had his head turned one way or another, and as his employer, our owner has very likely told him to say nothing. Anything that is currently unsaid is open to interpretation by both sets of fans to suit their own agenda. My one biggest point to you would be though - I’ve said it in a previous post, we have ruthless yet extremely savvy owners - you only have to see our raise in stature and relative profile since they took over not that long ago. Better ground, PL football, better players, no debt, stability. We know these owners well at our club - even IF Silva wants to go - our owners will do that only on terms that suit us and they are terms I doubt EFC will agree to meet. I strongly believe there will be no terms set however, we’ve said no. There will be no compromise to suit everyone I guarantee that. Keep chasing but you are getting time critical now really and this situation isn’t playing into your hands at any good speed.

I’d put good money you’ll have Unsworth in place in a week or less.

That being said, we’ll see what plays out. It’s been swapping opinions with you all over the past 48hrs! Good luck with getting your man (whoever that may be!) and good luck for the rest of the season!

What's your source on this mate? Because if you're referencing that Telegraph article then that fella doesn't have a blue's clue.

He's probably an outsider for the job, but there's a fair amount of speculation out there, and he's more likely to be next Everton manager than Moyes, so I think he's worth his own thread.

If it was a straight choice between Silva, Dyche, Allardyce and Unsworth, then Silva would get my vote.

Yes, today we beat his team, but he gets teams well organised and, especially considering the players at his disposal, they play some good football.

Thoughts ? ( apart from there's a next manager thread already ).
He’s not all that and he certainly isn’t good enough for us.
Let’s aim high
What’s that lad Tuchel up to.
I heard the dole doesn’t pay a lot in Germany , so throw a few quid his way and let him sign a couple of Germans in Jan

He signed a contract, he must honour it, the club would have to honour it if they sacked him, contracts are there to protect clubs and Managers, you cant just break them cos somebody flashed more cash at you.

Theres no need for any of this tho, all he needs to do is make a statement saying he wants the job, Watford will fold like a cheap suit.
They do that by making sure that poaching clubs pay through the nose for their managers...which is what Everton will do.

Laughing at the thought of anyone thinking that contracts are binding in this industry. Utterly ridiculous.

Mike Walker quit Norwich. Tried to claim it was unrelated to Everton wanting him. We had to pay substantial compensation though.

We need something similar to happen. Apart from the whole him being crap bit, obviously.

I know mate, just being sarcastic. Anyone who can’t see that Hull were already dead and buried needs to find another sport.
I was at the Hull v Sunderland game and will argue the toss with those who said Hull bottled it. They never stopped trying and if not for the efforts of a certain Jordan Pickford, they would have won that game.

Further to the above I won't miss the opportunity to mention that one of Pickford ' s saves was from Harry Maguire. Now he hasn't done too bad in the Premier despite a good few on here saying he was cack and for us to forget taking a punt on him.

But they weren’t, were they?

Neither dead nor buried.

They had done a Lazarus.

With three games to go they were two points clear of the drop zone.....with Sunderland coming to town.

They proceeded to lose that game....then got walloped 4-0 at Palace the following week.

So having got out of the grave, they jumped straight back in again.

Four points from the eighteen available in the last six games :hayee:

It is insanity to even think of paying Watford ten million quid to release him from his contract.

Especially as the way Watford are going at the moment he might be available for free before much longer
