Marco Silva

Christian Gross won multiple leagues and did well in the Champions League before he went to Spurs. Juande Ramos had even won a pair of UEFA Cups before his disastrous stint there.

Personally I would rather have a proven Premier League coach, as going to another league is always difficult, especially when you don’t have a support system in place like Chelsea’s

Seems like The Mosh has picked his man and he wont be budged.

He wont live or die by this appointment, but he will struggle to retain the majorities support if it all goes tits up.

Im rooting for you Marco.

And Moshiri and his toadies deserve all they get for being dumb enough to both publicly court Silva and then approach him again like this. It is obvious that the club will get into bother over it, or else everyone will start doing it.

Just because there is a bit of money now does not mean we should give up our principles and gentlemanly behavior

Mate, he was sacked by Watford 5months ago.

That's convinced me.

20+ years of being nice little Everton and holding the door open as we get overtaken by no marks is absolutely the way we need to continue.

[Poor language removed] Watford, and the rest.

No lawyer but surely we don't have to pay Watford anything? Seems a bit weak and nice we are offering compensation upfront. I'd say appoint him then pay if you have too. Can't think of any precedent that would say we do. Saying that maybe moshiri realises the fa/Premier will. Because we'll. Its everton they applied obscure rules just to us like Niasse being the only player to get a retro bam for diving!!

There's some surprising bedfellows going on here. Some who have argued against Moshiri's judgement, now backing his judgement on a manager. I find that a bit odd.

If it's Silva or even Fonseca, sure I'll back them. There's been some compelling arguments for both. Though I still haven't heard a decisive argument on why it should be one or the other. At any rate, it's better than Allardyce.

Problem is, I can't see a majority behind appointing Silva. If he hits a rough patch and looks like the knives are already drawn. I'd suggest, instead of rushing into this appointment because, transfer window, others may string us along etc...How about we do due diligence and get the right man for the job. If that's Silva so be it.

The premiership outside the top six is weak. Would it really matter if we took some time to get the right man. After all, Sam got 8th, which tells everybody, everything you need to know about the state of the competition around us.

However If Moshiri has already made his mind up back in November. Well I find that a wee bit inept. Considering the managers who are and will become available. Pragmatism and play the cards that are dealt. Is always a better strategy than Plan A.

Look at it this way, we've had Catterick, Kendall and Royle since the 70's who have delivered trophies. Indisputably champions and winners. (And by the way, I remember when Kendall was hired, we were no great shakes then. We were put down left, right and center. It was de rigueur then, like it is now.). Those managers had fortitude, conviction and a ruthless will to win that they hammered into their players. That's who I would look for in a manager.

If you can hold your hand up and say, Silva is the man, fair play. I respect that conviction. If he's gonna wilt though or turn his head, which he has done before. There's a question mark, right there.

It comes down to judgement, Moshiri needs to get this one right. Kenwright's failed, no bones about that. As a club we can't afford another 30 years in the wilderness.

A good point ;) ...What puzzles me is what would the FA think about Watford now running to them as an injured party 7 months after the event & 5 months after sacking their manager.

To be honest i am not too sure if it was Everton who made it public that they wanted to speak to Watfords Manager Who in turn refused the request...Marco Silva then asking if he COULD be allowed to speak to Everton.....or...did Everton go behind Watfords back and "Tap Him UP!:dodgy:"

That still riles me. It did every single time a player of any other club in the league went down like a sniper hit to either be awarded the pen or the ref simply saying "get up"...
I cant believe we took that lying down.
If anything, it shows just how corrupt this 'boys club' the fa are ...
