Marco Silva

...if he’s got a record of developing a good team as opposed to inheriting one; if he’s got a record of having innovative team selection and a playing strategy that creates chances and carries a threat against all teams; if he’s got a record of being astute in the transfer market and improving players then that’s the criteria we need.

Not sure if Silva ticks those boxes.
He'll tick some boxes and not others. As well as that, the insistence on having a DoF post at the club will mean transfer dealings will be taken out of his hands anyway.

I dont think Silva is ideal, but he's as good as we can attract under the circumstances.

I think he will do OK. @davek is right in his assertion that he is the best we can get at the moment - maybe after a couple of years of stability when we have a decent team we will attract the Emerys of the world, but for now he will do.

You a fan of Marco Dave?

I'd rather have him than both Koeman or Allardyce. That's a low bar to set, I know. I like the way he organises his midfield and the way they break out from there. That's something I reckon we'd all appreciate if he did arrive here.

As others have pointed out though: the amount of goals his team concede would be a great worry. It's not exactly a towering strength for us as it is.

No I think he’s better than that now mate.

He took over Hull after they were all but doomed and nearly saved them, was doing ok at Watford till we butted in, has PL and also has CL experience.

Yep, I was being slightly mischievous. I do think he could be a manager who'll thrive with greater expectation and more resources than he's had so far.

Even though his defences seem to leak goals the defences he has had have been terrible, I know ours aren't great but they are better than the likes of Watford and Hull. Hopefully we get in a proper centre half and left back and he can work with them and learn from past mistakes

That would be it mate. A stepping stone manager to get us facing in the right direction again.

..not sure about ‘transfer dealings being taken out of his hands’. By definition, it appears the Manager or DoF can generate a transfer but both have to sign it off before it happens.

To a certain extent if you go for it more then you expect defensive frailties. We need to throw out anyone in the defence right now without pace. Baines should be shown the door at a minimum.

How the hell can ppl complain about goals conceded by Marco Silva team when we conceded 58 goals in the league with not 1 but 2 defensive managers..... -14 goal difference
