Marco Silva

He'll tick some boxes and not others. As well as that, the insistence on having a DoF post at the club will mean transfer dealings will be taken out of his hands anyway.

I dont think Silva is ideal, but he's as good as we can attract under the circumstances.

It,s a nothing appointment for me DaveK, - 4 more years of mid table obscurity give our last 25 years that would be consistency for us.
Still if Bill goes then the curse will be lifted and we might a sunny day out at Wembley.

Why should he be classed as disloyal? He was at Watford who are a small club then us and have a habit of sacking managers and replacing them the same day.

He wanted to come to us, we pay big wages and have money to spend... it’s unlikey it will happen to us unless he doing really well

If we hire him then after ten games next season he tells the Club that he wants to leave and manage, lets say Arsenal, would you think he's disloyal then?

I genuinely found it disgraceful what he did to Watford last season and it completely ruined them for a while.

But yes, I appreciate that Watford of all clubs deserved it to happen to them.

It’s almost like as crap as Keane & Jags are you actually think Miguel Britos is a step up.

He isn’t a step down though is he? Keane and Jags ffs. I’d be delighted to never see either on a pitch for us again.

To a certain extent if you go for it more then you expect defensive frailties. We need to throw out anyone in the defence right now without pace. Baines should be shown the door at a minimum.

You should have just put a full stop after that.

So this will go one of two ways. He will either fail miserably and get sacked, or he will be a success and quickly move on to a bigger club.

Either way, he'll be here two years max.

He's already shown himself to be incredibly disloyal.

That’s the spirit, my good man ;)

Players work with the manager everyday not the DoF.
If the players don,t fancy it then they will swerve.
So I'm playing in a tin pot league on £10k a week and I get a chance to play in the premier league, in front of 40000 fans every week and they'll even pay me £60k pw to do so.

Oh no Marco Silva is their manager. He got Hull relegated and concedes loads of goals. Screw that.

You think? Really?

My main issue with Silva is I don't really know what a Silva team would look like. He hasn't been in his last 2 jobs long enough to build on the impressive starts.

His previous job was with Olympiakos. Everyone wins the title with them (Vitor Pereria for example) but if you watch their goals from his season you can see clear patterns of play.

Lots of set piece goals scored - I always look at this as a very good sign of a hardworking coach. Lots of time spent on organisation and a big variety of types of clever freekicks and corners.

Seems to like attacking with width and pace - a lot of the goals seem to be breakaways of 3 players with the wide man cutting the ball back into the centre. Again I like this, could perhaps work with this squad too with Lookman/Walcott as part of that 3.

I'm still Team Fonseca because I've been watching Shahktar a lot and love the way they play but I'd be happy with Marco.

If it is to be Silva then as you say, Baines needs to be benched and replaced, Jags needs to be benched and replaced by a proper athletic centre half and put him next to Holgate and let them form a proper partnership. If Silva can bring in Matrinez's attacking flow and actually get us to defend when needed then we will have a very good manager on our hands. I'm warming to the idea
I'd be concerned with the goals conceded column, tbf. It was pointed out to me the other day that even before the Watford 10 match downturn that saw him out with an avalanche of goals against them Watford had conceded the second highest amount of goals in the PL to that point.

My concern though is with the reaction of other supporters rather than myself. I'm happy to take the proposition that if you want to attack and win games you have to suffer the goals conceded and losses too.

Not sure what the journos are on about re Watford making it difficult for us to sign him. They binned him off and he’s no longer contracted to them, in what way can they throw a spanner in the works other than sending one of their grocks like Holebas to kidnap him.
Think he is still contracted to them as he's still arguing his pay off. We won't be getting him for free.
