Marco Silva

He'll tick some boxes and not others. As well as that, the insistence on having a DoF post at the club will mean transfer dealings will be taken out of his hands anyway.

I dont think Silva is ideal, but he's as good as we can attract under the circumstances.
This oozes with the 'optimism' that I have for him. Not terrible, but if he's the man, let's get behind him. I think he can win us over. Also he has room to grow and improve, as do we. I hope we're a good match.

I'll probably post the same in the Fonseca thread now...

And Chelsea, plus dont forget Burnley are stuck in the Europa so they have no chance of a decent season, theres one of the teams in front gone for a start, with a good manger and Brands getting a few good players to plug the gaps from last season we can do well next year, going for Silva were not even giving ourself a chance

Well @roydo made a prediction a few weeks ago that Spurs were on the verge of imploding.
Reports today suggest Poch is putting it up to Levy and Lewis.
Wants his wages doubled , wants Kane Ali and Erickson to get bigger contracts and wants 100m on top of sales to spend on new players.
All this and Chelsea showing him a bit of ankle.
All this and a new stadium to pay for
It’s [Poor language removed] or get off the pot time for Lewis and Levy and I think they will get off the pot and Poch and others may walk.
Arsenal need a good manager and 4/5 players
Allegri is stalling over transfer funds and I doubt Arteta is up to it.
If we get this right we could make a push

However I said the same last summer and we cocked it up big time

Some people with the no ambition shouts are crazy, Can you please just look at our club before you start with the Emery/Wenger/Simone etc, We finish top half 6-8 on the regular, Haven't won a trophy in nearly 23 years and people expect the absolute elite to come to a club like us? You're completely bonkers. I would love for us to go out and pull the absolute top draw but we simply aren't that level yet. Silva or Fonseca we can get (I'd prefer Fonseca but fine with either.) We just have to hope Silva can get us on track again.

We were the 3rd highest spenders in the league last season and our managers are in the top 10 for highest paid in world football.

Profile doesn't come into it when money talks.

...thing is: we know what to expect in terms of conceding goals. If it happens here it wont be a shock. No supporter can say "hold on, where's the defence?" He just needs to get us creating a lot of chances and signing attackers to convert enough to make the boldness worthwhile. I'd back him to do that.

It's not an appointment that will take us to the next level, but it will dispel the terrible atmosphere of hopelessness and boredom.

We get whacked by them as well despite Silva not being here. We’ve got better players than Watford & Hull - he got something out of their bang average players, no reason why he cant improve the players here. We’ve had a rubbish season but the players arent as bad as some makr out.
Bang average players you say
Last summer lads on here were saying A certain Troy Deeney should replace Lukaku

just shows us we're stupid with money really nothing else.

West Ham hold talks with Fonseca and Emery.

We swerve them, appoint Silva.

Everton that.
If Silva is the man we have chosen, why would we be talking to them? I think it has been reported that we have talked to them over the last season or so. If you believe the press, then it might well be that they have been discounted. Hell, they might even be here to apply for any vacant job they can find and see if they have options. Also Silva is apparently another 'option' for West Ham. I wouldn't pay any heed to the media or news outlets with links to betting sites - until they print a picture of whoever it will be with an Everton scarf saying that he is delighted to be here, then it's all just page filler.

West Ham and Everton are fishing in the same pool at the moment. I will bet anyone that anyone we are interested in will be linked to them too, and vice versa.

Why is it so hard to find a manager that gets us creating chances through attacking football, but lacks any defensive grit?

No need to answer... it's just the way it is in modern football, and if you found one, he'd be off to the CL teams.

I like Silva and have done for a long time, i gave him a shout for us within the first month of him arriving at Hull, he has something about him that reminds me of Poch, i am not really in agreement about his defensive record to be honest, has anyone seen the defenders at Hull and Watford.

Ultimately he is coach and is used to working in the DOF model.

Im a big fan of this appointment.

Time and space to build and develop, 3 years at least and we need to be patient i fully expect a step back to take a step forward.

Is he? Let's look at his stats.

11/12 Estoril - best defence in the league, conceding 20 goals in 30 games
12/13 Estoril - 5th best defence in the league (now Primeira Liga), conceding 37 in 30
13/14 Estoril - 4th best defence in the league, conceding 26 in 30
14/15 Sporting - 4th best defence in the league, conceding 29 in 30
15/16 - best defence in the league, conceding 16 in 30

He can set up a defence when he has a good players at his disposal:coffee:

Boom. Everyone can pipe down and kindly deactivate their GOT account.
