However, I must say that it is at this stage an underwhelming appointment.
Hopefully he will be more Howard Kendall than Roberto Martinez but it is another appointment that the media will regard as about par for the course with Everton.

I also personally don't buy that Watford changing managers every season was a justification for it either. They still paid you for that year even if they let you go and, providing you did well, it wouldn't be hard to find a new job because everyone knows they're trigger happy

I think peoples expectations on a new manager are a bit wild if im honest, the really top managers wont even speak to you without Champions league football and our record on job security is pretty poor.

I mean, imagine we have a good start and then someone starts sending overtures to him in October? Either we block him moving even though he wants to go (We can ask Watford what's likely to happen in that scenario) or we let him go and then have to scramble to find ANOTHER manager whilst the season is till ongoing, thus meaning even more instability and chaos

Unfortunately that's what we might have to deal with when it comes to him. I get that he's ambitious, but he's also a gamble because it honestly looks like a matter not of "if" but "when" he skips town, and it could be at any point during the season
