Marco Silva

What if a club outside the Prem goes for him though mate? Someone decent in Italy, France or Spain maybe, who can offer him European football?

The Hull one is less of an issue for me, although it would have spoken well of his character to stay and get them back up (Like Dyche did with Burnley) it looked mutual between both parties, so fair enough

But the Watford situation is very troubling indeed for me. To want to leave a club so soon after getting there, whilst the season is going on, means that you're just as liable to do it at another one. You expect managers and players to want to get the best moves and deals they can, but at a certain point I really think you have to say "Sorry, I've literally only just got here and I'm going to give this club the minimum of a year before looking to move on"

Signing Marco Silva is essentially us agreeing to constantly looking over our shoulder for the entirety of his time as manager. At least with players we know we only have to worry about them leaving once the window opens. Managers can go at any time, and the minute we have a good run we're going to have to worry that another club might be willing to tempt him with a big offer and that he very well might fancy it. Again, if does fancy it, then we're going to be facing a double sword situation

It's a calculated risk to go for him for that reason, and that's before we even discuss his tactical abilities as a manager. Hopefully I'm wrong and he'll at least give us a season before allowing his attention to be redirected, because the alternative doesn't bare thinking about
I've a sinking feeling he's just playing the managerial money-go-round.

He's obviously a talented coach, he proved that at Hull and more so the way he had Watford playing until we went in for him.

I'm more than happy to give him a go, but I'd like to give Fonseca the job if there was a choice.

And since then he's won a league with Olympiakos and then failed to do the business at Hull and gotten the sack from Watford for being unprofessional and whinging to get released after 4 months of his contract.

It is amazing what context does.

Do you not have respect for the job he did at Hull and Watford mate? I do if im honest.

He will be linked with Arsenal in November when it goes tits up for Arteta and we are sitting 3rd after a blistering start to the season.

Our form will drop off he’ll be sacked and Sam will be back a case of deja vu.

It's something we need to think about certainly

Again, if we at least knew we were getting a full season then it's slightly less of an issue because we'd have adequate time to replace him

But if he wants out a couple of months in then it will throw us into disarray

It's a gamble for that reason, you can't predict how he's going to react if someone chances their arm whilst the season is still going on and sounds him out

Hopefully he’s been watching every game since November and knows exactly what he needs when he arrives.

This.

If indeed he is the new manager, together with the new DOF, he needs to be given a free rein, to rip the squad up and start again.

If not, we`ll be quickly faced with the same problems of this season.

TBF, we were probably offering him around 4x what he was on at Watford. Not sure how many of wouldn't pull a neck muscle ourselves, turning our heads with that kind of interest - regardless how long we'd been at a new employer. Plus, there aren't many other clubs who could offer him a multiple of what we'll pay. And if one does, then he'll have been doing one hell of a job for us at that stage.

Not really, no. What's there to be impressed by? None of it compares to what Fonseca or Emery have done.

Hull ended up in the Championship at the end of the day.

Watford got turned over by an Unsworth Everton team bereft of confidence and completely fell off the boil the second he was linked to us because his head got turned easy.

I hold what he did at Watford against him more than anything. If we sign him I won't be able to help feeling he's another Koeman treating us as a stepping stone because we have already see him do it 6 months into a job.

It's why I puzzled why we aren't looking at AVB EL winner Prem experience with two top clubs (OK mixed results but with something to prove) Seems to see out a contract.

Aye, lads, can we stop saying he got Hull relegated?

Took over in January when they were 19th in the league and made them a much better team.

The owner got Hull relegated, not the manager. People making out like they were midtable and he plummeted them down the league.
