Marco Silva

Watford removed Silva from his position. If they are still paying him (and the word I heard is that they are not and he is in dispute with them over it) it's because HE is entitled to it under his contract. If it was Silva who walked away the situation would be reversed as Watford would then be the party entitled to compensation. That agreement finishes this month as, although there was a 2 year contract, there was also a break clause at the end of this season when either party could walk away.
Contracts are extremely complex and each one is completely different, the breaking clauses etc will all have different situations attached to it as well.

Just look at Koemans contract and how he is still be paid whilst having another job etc

I would be very surprised if Watford didn't put any clause in the event of dismissal due to tapping up.

Regardless though, what is it, 50/60 million on managers the last 3 years or so? Ridiculous.

Fat sam should never have been hired, neither should silva because it's pretty obvious what is going to happen.

1. He does well, gets tapped up and falls to pieces again.

2. The more likely situation - he turned out crap and gets the sack.

Why is moshiri not showing any ambition once again?

totally, watch how Sam gets the blame when we are in the relegation zone in October. 'He drilled a negative mentality into the players mindset' or some such BS.
Well he is to blame for what's happened to Sunderland....honest! Nearly forgot Palace are obviously doomed next season.:)

Less than 10% of the vote on our Hypothetical Manager Poll for Marco Silva.

Surely fans generally aren't wanting this guy?

If you can't get the job done at Watford - then why is he even in the picture?

Mosh best shoot for the Fonz on this one - or just go get Dyche ffs.
nobody wants him. this is only barely better than Allardyce in terms of acceptability to the fan base. He'll have to finish higher than 8th to earn a second season. But we will more concerned about what the likes of Cardiff and Huddersfield are doing to avoid relegation so no need to concern ourselves with a potential european finish.

If people use that as a "look at what he can do" then I'm going to use it as "he didn't do anything, he still failed".

They lost lo Crystal Palace, Stoke, Sunderland and drew Southampton in the last 5 matches. They bottled it.

Neither should be all that relevant. That job was such a poisoned chalice from the beginning of the season.

Truth is nobody knows what will happen if we get Silva as manager. We can only express gut feelings and mine are we are lowering our sights as a club allegedly aiming for a challenge to 6th place. Of course Silva might be successful, and the same might be said of a "top" manager, except there would be a greater expectation of success with a so-called top manager. Siva's appointment would leave me with very little expectation of success. Maybe there are no top managers either available or likely to come to a club in a total mess, which this one is.

This is just another missed opportunity.

We hire the conte's of the world and the top players/talents will come.

Just at the RS, under Rodgers he had zero sway therefore could only sign the benteke's, allens of the world. When you hire a top class manager the options become a lot more broad .

You hire the Marco silvas of the world and the average will keep on coming.

It's time to be ambition and throw money at a top top class manager for once.

Money talks and it will actually pay off.

You can bet this will almost certainly end with Everton paying Watford some money.
I can't see how that is possible mate. The only thing that they could do was try to prove that they had to sack him because we made an illegal approach for him, and everybody knows we went through the right channels. FFS there was a daily update in the newspapers, mainly from their side. There is a procedure to follow which we did, and the compensation we offered was about 10 times what they were entitled to given there was a break clause after 1 year. They'd get laughed out of court and they know it.

The way I understand it is they owe Silva's salary since he was sacked. That has nothing to do with Everton, it's between Silva and Watford.

But aren't we already well-known for paying managers ridiculous wages?
