nar not having that at all, I feel sorry for people who lose their job and have mortgages and bills to pay for and are going to be stuck for cash

this feller cannot do a job he is paid VERY handsomely for and will lose and get millions in the process, I don't despise him in the slightest but I refuse to have sympathy for someone who is going to make an absolute fortune for being rubbish at their job

it's like me conning a job in NASA and then after a while they realise I actually don't have a clue what I am doing they sack me and give me millions for their mistake, do I get sympathy?
Are you qualified for your job in NASA, like he's qualified to be a football manager? Is your pay at NASA similar to what you would expect to be paid in a similar job, and have been paid in previous jobs, like Silva's is? Would NASA sacking you probably be the end of your dream to be one of the best in your field, something you've been working towards for a number of years? And would your sacking be played out in front of the media, with people taking photos of you while you're on public transport and speculating that you'd been to the job centre?

If the answer to the above questions is yes then yes you get sympathy, if it's no then it's a rubbish analogy.

You don't have to feel sorry for him, but personally I have some sympathy. I won't lose any sleep over his situation if i'm honest, my heart isn't breaking for him, but I do find myself slightly saddened that he finds himself being abused and speculated over to such an extent. Mark me down as a softy.

If we employ Moyes or the like, Brands might as well pack his bags . Moyes won't work with a DOF and if Brands is saying none of his targets are available, he has a very unambitious list. Again, if we employ Moyes or similar, does that mean 'the project' has been cancelled?

The kind of fatalistic thinking you describe is very close to what I imagine goes on at the club and what annoys me beyond belief.

To use Brian Coughs adage they make the very simple look very complicated. If Brands has a list and they are all unavailable the Chairman of the board should pose that very question to him. Is your list realistic? Why will they be available in 6 months? Is there someone who currently is available who could do a better job than the current manager?

If the answer remains no, then the collective decision surely has to be that they back Marco Silva and get on a charm offensive.

The reality is, these discussions should have been taking place 2 months ago and a conclusion ought to have been reached. They've stuck with with Silva but none of them have either the integrity or the bravery to have put a supportive word in to help reduce some of the pressure on him and share the burden.

What we are left with is this mixture of reactive practice mixed with cowardice from the board. Of people just throwing problems in and no emphasis being placed upon finding a solution, however imperfect that may be.

It may be easier to recruit in 6 months, but not drastically so.

Take Moyes for example. If he's good enough for 6 months, he ought to be good enough for 3 years. If he's not good enough for 3 years, why would you have him for 6 months?

We are led to believe Kenwright wants him, if thats the case why isn't he good enough for 3 years?

Going through managers like confetti (if we go the interim route it would be 6 in 4 years) is not working for the club.

ok using your analogy, if everton come out today and said schneiderlin has had his contract terminated, would you feel sorry for him?

this is EXACTLY the same

he's "qualified"
he's paid similar than what he would have been in other jobs
it probably was his "dream"
he's been working on it for years

me I wouldn't, id be absolutely over the moon because he's a fraud and doesn't deserve to be paid the money he's on

my feelings for the silva are the same, he is a fraud and doesn't deserve the money he is paid

Training must have been fun today...

Schneiderlin Sigurdson and Tosun chatting "he picked the three of us in the starting lineup and then bemoaned the lack of pace and mobility in the team; idiot"... lol lol lol :bye: :bye:

I didn't want to sidetrack the conversation, I'm just saying personally I feel a bit sorry for him and I can see why other people do too. I don't really care if you do, i'm not trying to convince you to say a prayer for him tonight or anything, just putting forward the opinion that being well paid doesn't mean you're not deserving of sympathy.

To answer your question though, I don't think that's a great analogy either. Your reaction to Schneiderlin is likely to be based on the fact that you don't perceive him to be trying very hard, which is difficult to argue with. If someone is sacked for not trying, then no, they don't deserve sympathy. I have no reason to believe Silva isn't trying, I just don't think he's good enough.

I agree it's all about opinions mate

but I suppose it's easier to say a player isn't trying as he's on the pitch over a manager, but is silva "trying"? he's just had the most difficult weekend arguably in his career and instead of getting to finch farm and cracking on, doing some work... he's took a break

he's not working hard thinking of new formations, tactics, styles of play, or picking new players he's being quite "lazy" in he's just expecting to turn it around doing the same thing week in week out

anyway that's the last of it from me, hopefully he gets sacked soon which is the main thing
