I personally believe Unsworth would have been the wrong choice and after what happened 18 months ago I think the board know this as well. They obviously don't trust him to do the job again.
In PL fixtures Unsworth did a fair job in the circumstances. People seem to forget that he won both home games, including a comeback to beat Silva's Watford and a 4-0 hammering of the Hammers. That said I would agree it would be wrong to put him in the same position again, but for one reason only -- the senior players would down tools again, particularly the overseas players who simply didn't give him any credibilty or respect then and wouldn't now.

Well it would be a bit weird to keep him in charge through all the trials and tribulations we've had and then give him the bullet after he's led us to our first win at Anfield in 20 years wouldn't it? That would be sending a very odd message indeed.

Yeah I guess so. Because if you put that together with last season's wins against the top few clubs, it shows a bit of improvement in an area of weakness. I think only getting 2 wins and 2 draws from the next 5 would really convince fans he's worth a shot, and that's a big challenge

At this stage it is all about Moshiri’s pride.

Given the extraordinary lengths he went to and the great expense incurred in bringing this dud here, following on the heels of his two previous managerial embarrassments, to admit to yet another calamity in so short a space of time is just too much for him.

Or it could be that Brands has decided that the numerous mitigating factors (including his own failures) warrant an extended stay till Jan when he will get the players in...

The way the board have handled this is a disgrace.

After all this silence if he's still here come the Chelsea game I dread to think what carnage will happen in the stands.
Maybe they learnt from the Koeman- Unsworth blunder and are waiting to get the right man and 2nd give him a chance to make an impression and an impact

No he didn't.

We had to score three goals a game to win under him which was worse than koeman. We leaked goals more than ever. Seems playing west ham in October is a guaranteed win no matter who is our manager.

I am sorry, idea he has a second chance when he's a dead man walking and the board have stripped any little authority is a joke. We as getting reamed in the next two and the players have the perfect excuse, given to them by the board.

You didn’t read my post, I was talking about the new manager, rushing him in to face Leicester and RS away in the space of a week wouldn’t be a good start.
Silva sacked Tuesday, new manager we’d/thurs gives him 2 days to prep for Leicester and 1-2 days at the most to prep for the RS. Or we sack Silva after the Darby and give the new manager a home game against Chelsea

At the start of the season, If someone would have offered me 5 points off 5th and the Quarters of the cup going in Christmas, I would taken it...funny old game really isn't it.

Funny old game indeed. At the start of the season, if someone had offered me 7 defeats, a minus 7 goal difference and 5th from bottom after the first 13 games of which only only 1 was a top 6 team and 3 were newly promoted teams, i would have said go and get fecked, we could do better than that even if the toffee girl was in charge of the team.
