One of the main differences imo. Is koeman bought a lot of players who were 27/28/29. Hoping for a quick fix and to be challenging the top 6/4 within a couple of years. Which was obviously unrealistic.

Avg age of Ronko signings - 24.5
Avg age of Silva signings - 24.1

Koeman actually signed a lot of younger players in Pickford, Keane, DCL, Lookman, Vlasic and Onyekuru. So, irrespective of the subjective estimation of the quality of those players, the buying philosophy isn't actually all that different.

No matter what manager is or was in place it is not so much that age matters but the quality of the signings that is paramount. Of course being of a young age points towards long term future. Wonder then how you would rate Delph?

Are you serious. So the fact they bought a few teenagers that apart from DCL the others have already been moved on. And DCL won’t be far behind. Also Sandro as well, cheap buy but big wages that we can’t shift. These Have all helped towards the age average.

But you obviously have forgotten we signed. Williams, Schneiderlin, gana, siggurdsson, Bolasie, And then Walcott. Rooney & martina were frees, but would have had a signing on fee and decent wages, big in Rooney’s case

Apart from Gana the others have cost a lot of money and on big wages that we will struggle to get anything back on them.

Delph is the only player over 25 that brands has bought and for a poxy 8mil. How anyone can’t see there’s a clear difference in philosophy is beyond me.

What has Delph got to do with anything?

The comment was on the buying philosophy of both managers, pertaining to age. A poster had said Ronko signed a lot of players later in their career where as Silva is generally going for much younger signings. The stats don't bear that out.

I didn't say anything about the quality of player or the size of the fee.

Delph? just pointing out the age anomaly. As I said it is not age but quality that is paramount in assessing philosophy.

Well, no. Age is absolutely paramount when a poster suggests that a key difference between Silva and Koeman's buying philosophy is the age of players they purchased - implying that Silva has secured much younger players than Koeman did.

Again, the stats don't bear that out.

But you were implying the pair had the same buying philosophies.

No, that's what you inferred. If you read what I said, I noted that the two buying philosophies, specifically pertaining to the age of players, isn't actually all that different. And it isn't.

See my last post and I definitely prove that that koeman and Walsh did. But players late in their career. A bit like saying koeman got more points is like using the fact they signed a few teenagers makes it look like they didn’t sign older players.

Silva and brands signed 2 players over 25 Delph & lossl.

Koeman & Walsh. 7 and were very close to signing Giroud
Walsh & Sam 2

Koeman and Walsh signed 6 players 23 and under.
Silva and Brands signed 5 players 23 and under.
