Other improvements have been made that aren't points tally. In Koemans first season we finished 7th with 61 points.
In Silvas first season we finished 8th with 54.
The season inbetween was a mess with 3 managers and we still managed 8th with 49 points.
So, we have clearly shown no improvement to my mind under Silva/Brands so far. But people always go with there own confoirmation bias rather than look at facts.
If we collect more than 61 points this season we will have shown improvement.
Ps. I would rather have Jags/Mori of a few years ago compared to Keane/Mori. The old Baines was as good as Dogne.
I also think Gueye will be shown to be a massive loss, he is a way more effective midfield player than Gomes and Delph.
I agree Richarlison/Iwobi and Kean are way stronger options going forward now than what we had in the game shown.
Probably a stronger team but I am far from convinced this manager will get anything close to the best from them.

He airbrushed over the absolute mess Silva & Brands inherited like jettisoning 25 + players some that where on ridiculous wages while trying to assemble a squad capable of challenging.Other improvements have been made that aren't points tally.
If you can't see the improvement in the squad since Brands/Silva came in then you've been watching Everton with your eyes closed
You expected an even bigger improvement than what I posted above in just 15 months?
Personally think we've improved more than Chelsea, Arsenal and United in that time who have all gone backwards, but each to their own.
Funny, I thought Leicester were League Champions a few years ago.Literally nobody has said that we've not improved. It's the comparable rate at which we've improved that i'm disputing. Are we getting better than other teams around us?
Yes, I did. I did have big expectations. In fact i'd argue that our collectively low bar as a fanbase is hurting the club. For our expenditure to be as significant as it has been, without any key departures during that time - I expected us to be in a better position than we are to really challenge the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and United this season. When I say 'better position' i'm also not referring to the current league table either .
The reality is, Chelsea, Arsenal and United aren't the teams we're competing with. United and Chelsea have undoubtedly regressed, though I don't believe Arsenal have, but they're all still quite a bit ahead of us, even in their weakened states.
The teams we're actually competing with, such as Leicester, West Ham and Wolves have improved at a better rate during the last two summers in my humble opinion. At the very least, they've improved at precisely the same rate that we have. Leicester have lost their two best players in Mahrez and Maguire in the last 15 months. West Ham have also lost their best player in Arnautovic. Yet if you look at their key signings during that time:
Leicester: Perreira, Maddison, Praet, Tielemans, Perez and Soyuncu.
West Ham: Fabianski, Fornals, Diop, Haller, Felipe Anderson and Yarmolenko
Wolves: Patricio, Jota, Boly, Dendoncker, Jonny, Jimenez
Everton: Richarlison, Digne, Bernard, Mina, Gomes, Delph, Kean, Gbamin, Iwobi
I think it could be argued that all of those teams had a worse starting point than us 15 months ago and most would argue that all three, on paper, have comparable squads to us now. Nobody is lauding the DOF's at Wolves, West Ham and Leicester to this extent are they? All three will certainly be competing with us for that 7th spot and it's entirely debatable as to who is best prepared to get it.
Now that's not solely Brands responsibility, Silva shares some of that too. It all boils down to your own personal opinions of those players and the collective abilities of those teams. My argument is that race for 7th really shouldn't be as close as it will be.
For me the jury is still out on him. I didn't agree with his appointment and thus far he's not filling me full of confidence.
That said I'm probably just jaded as I also didn't want Moyes, Smith, Martinez, Koeman or Allardyce either.

RAWK is two doors down.Best post I have read in a long time.
Makes me cringe when people say its best to ignore points figures and say `we have improved in other ways lol', `we play more attractive football'.
The comment just about everyone thinks we have improved just shows how you can deceive a huge number of people.
If you think we will get over 61 points this season you are in a tiny band of the most optimistic head in the sand evertonians and you will make alot of money buying us on the spreads if you are correct.
I believe you wont back up your views with hard cash.

One of the main differences imo. Is koeman bought a lot of players who were 27/28/29. Hoping for a quick fix and to be challenging the top 6/4 within a couple of years. Which was obviously unrealistic. In Koemans first season we finished 7th with 61 points.
In Silvas first season we finished 8th with 54.
