2019/20 Marco Silva

The thought of another season ahead of meaningless games is just soul destroying. How has he got it so wrong already?

There’s no reason to keep this chancer now. He failed last season and he’s got off to one of the worst starts possible. 3 defeats already in them fixtures is shockingly bad.

Get him out. Not many managers could do a worse job than that.

I'm really disappointed with the team. Not enough fight in them to overcome a few deficiencies in skill level to blast through the likes of Sheffield United who were no more tham organised and did a job. The lack of "sin miedo" to quote a previous manager really hit us yesterday.

Silva has his work cut out. At the moment it all seems a bit Walter Smith. Very disheartening. If I was in charge, I'd be looking at the alternative and drawing up the shortlist because if it's not improving soon, I'd be pulling the trigger ... and I like Marco and think he has it in him so if I'd consider him going, his goose is probably cooked.

Who the hell are we going to get if we sack him now, another pointless manager. We may as well keep him unless it goes very bad. Maybe Brands should pick the next manager as Moshi not doing very well at this.

Our squad is a mess tbf, no competition at CB.
No proper RW
Dont know our best midfield.
No proper striker.

There must be decent managers abroad. We’ve recruited the last few from Preston, Wigan, Southampton and watford.

Let’s try scouting beyond the championship and div 1.

Silva never had the credentials anyway.

Fed up and peed off, that was terrible yesterday as was Villa and Bournemouth, 6 games 3 defeats, sorry but someone needs to be responsible. Same old defensive mistakes after we had looked like we had got to grips with it. Just not good enough from everyone.

Injuries don't help and the CM is very weak currently but we also have no options in CB or CF, we have Evertoned the start of the season, what a shocker.

As DOF Brands should sit down with Silva and say ok we are in a mess ,what are you going to do to get us out of this and give him a deadline to achieve that. If he doesn’t achieve that then sack him. That’s how it works in most businesses.
Some people on here are saying that injuries and lack of back up players are hindering him. In my opinion that is not a good enough excuse for the tactics he is currently using.

I can't remember many seasons where we've had a kinder opening 6 fixtures. We've played 2 promoted teams, 2 relegation candidates (palace and watford), a mid-table type team (Bournemouth) and only one genuine too half side who we caught at a great time due to their Europa League adjustment wobbles.
The bare minimum - even given the loss of Gueye and failure to get Zouma, was 3 home wins and either drawing the aways or picking up at least one away win. We shouk have 12 points. No messing about.

I've defended Silva a lot. I didn't want him gone at any point last season. I always felt he - and the club - needed at least one full season of stability and ideally more than that. Chopping and changing so rapidly has set us back massively.

But I'm alarmed at what I'm seeing. For me, Tuesday is absolutely MASSIVE now. We've clearly earmarked winning a trophy as essential this season. Lots of the players have talked about it - trying to compete as high as we can and do something special in the cup. If we dip out of the league cup - our most realistic shot, where the really big teams rest players - in round 3 to a championship team, then I think I'll be ready, reluctantly, to pull the plug on Silva.

I might give him one last roll of the dice v City - as I think hiring someone new and throwing them in for that game is unfair.
If Silva gets the win v Sheff Wed then I think we have to give him a free pass v City and see how he does v Burnley. But the veultures are circling and it's a massive test for him now. I'm not confident he can turn it round. He'd need to repeat the sort of run we went on at the end of last season to win the fans and players back now.

The big question we always have in this situation is who could we get who would be better. My list is short, and likely to be unpopular. But I'm done with being bitter, and it's time to be pragmatic. We need a winner who can sort out this mess.

I'm sorry but I want Rafael Benitez.
Failing him, we're looking at a much bigger risk - an Eddie Howe maybe even José Mourinho. But I genuinely doubt he would come, and I fear he would leave us in one hell of a mess.
I guess Dyche might end up in the conversation too but I'd rather not.

Beyond them 4 we're looking at Brands going continental and bringing his sort of guy in. Your guess is as good as mine, there.

Just so bloody annoying that we're here again. Under koeman/allardyce it was different. We had a squad with huge gaps and players the fans didn't even really like.
But now we have genuine talent - several players who we can (and ultimately will) flog for huge profit, but this manager is failing to get a tune out of them.
Hard to defend him for that.

He's not the one. He's NEVER been the one. There was a random fixation with him from our owner that far exceeded his talent. We had a clean slate when Brands was brought in to get an ACTUAL manager and, still, we went with Silva.

I could have named you about a half dozen managers that would have been a vast improvement and available but I couldn't even think of 2 at this point.

The best defence for him at the moment seems to be "We can't keep sacking managers". If we go out of the cup I'd want serious questions asked.

Nagelsmann is coaching a better team than us already and will have eyes on Bayern and the German team. Not happening.

Potter LOL. Let's maybe see him win a few top flight games first. I like his style if it works but it has not yet worked.

I said potential and that we must wait. We have to wait because both have just signed for new clubs and we have to wait to see how they perform in their respective clubs. I can agree that Nagelsmann can be difficult to get, but he is a young and exciting manager type. When it comes to Potter, he performed miracles with Østersund, did a huge job with Swansea - given the conditions - and he did this by playing offensive and expansive football. If he manages to keep Brighton in the PL with this philosophy then I think he has done a very good job. His name, on the other hand, is not very exotic.
