2019/20 Marco Silva

Even Coleman is putting in only 50% this season. We have a crap attitude at the club. Mina and Delph have been showing more urgency to sort things in-game when we are losing than the captain. Give it til the end of the season and they also won’t be bothering to try. Whoever the manager is.

City set the standard. Work yourself into the ground each game, and if they are half hour in and haven’t scored yet they are already noticeably picking up the pace and showing urgency to get the ball in play and make use of every minute. We are not even doing that at 3-1 and 2-0 down.

Players throwing another manager under the bus whether he is good enough or not.

Sack the whole club.

44 games and 3 transfer windows into his tenure and a dream start to this season opposition wise and this is how far we have progressed or should i say regressed. It is a struggle to get into the top 10, never mind the top 6 with this man in charge and it should be obvious to everyone by now that this is just business as usual and how it will always be. No other ambitious club would accept it and neither should we.

If you remove just half the goals conceded due to zonal marking we're probably in EL with an FA cup run and doing ok. It was bizzare enough last year. This year it's insane.

Can't sack him without a plan. Planning needs to have started though in case he can't turn it around. That's what happened with Koeman and look who we got. Fat Sam still managed to spend almost £60m on Tosun and Walcott in that time.

Also, when Koeman got the sack we had City, Spurs, Chelsea, Utd in our opening 6 fixtures. Silva, by comparison, has had a much nicer run of games. In both cases the performances as well as the results have been awful.

Interesting how the fans turn on managers without any views of what players would be in the side instead of those not delivering on the pitch.

Just post after post of "silva out" comments.

Dearie me.

I’d give a view on this but would then be shouted down by the Gylfi Siggurdson fan club.

First off I’d get that ridiculous, over priced, over paid, gargantuan waste of space fraud out of our squad completely. The worst 40 mill the club ever spent he should never see the first team again this season. A championship chump who had done nothing at the club and doesn’t deserve to play.

Secondly I’d terminate Morgan Schneiderlin’s contract. The bloke is an unprofessional clown who surfs from transfer window to window playing just well enough in the run up to them to a kid being sold then slipping straight back to doing jack all once it’s shut. A mercenary charlatan who has done nothing at this club, get him out.

I’d take Seamus Coleman out the team. He can’t cross a ball and is a walking penalty now. This is supposed to be a top prem team and we’re indulging players who can’t learn a skill that most Sunday league players can master.

I’d also take Michael Keane out of the team. Well done for a few games of raising yourself to the standard of an average premier league centreback Michael but this bloke is not good enough and everyone knows it.

In their place I’d play (for want of any better options really) the following team when everyone is fit.

Pickford

Sidibe Holgate Mina Digne

Gbamin/Delph
Gomes. Bernard

Richarlison. Kean. Iwobi

I’d have Davies as first sub as well for any of the two attacking mids which means he’d be playing now.

We won’t win many games at all if the spine of our team is Keane Schneiderlin Siggurdson Calvert Lewin. There’s no pace there, no desire there, no skill there, no talent whatsoever, teams in the championship wouldn’t swap their spine for that. None of them are Silva’s players yet he protects them ridiculously. Those 4 players are not good enough to be the core of our team.

At least during the bad patch last year we had some exciting attacking play and would score goals. The utter lack of any threat going forwards is shocking. I can’t remember the last time we played football through the middle of the pitch. We didn’t test their keeper at all yesterday and it was the same against Villa and Bournemouth.

I’ve no idea if all that would work but I could get behind it.

Beyond that we would then need a new quality RB CB playmaker and striker

Perhaps putting a Brazilian international creative attacker in our midfield might help our overall football than a holding midfielder who can’t pass forward. Maybe playing a lad who has been one of our better midfielders in 2 of the last 3 turgid seasons is a better idea than the bloke who got banned from training under Unsworth and wasn’t good enough to displace Mctominay at United.

Why???? He's the worst offender in the last three years! He's made zero progress. He's appalling.

Seriously he's played what 70-odd games for the club and it is mad that people still cannot see this

Dearie me.

Mainly because he’s the man who sets the tactics and picks the 11. He’s trying to play a system which is simply not working, week after week the pattern of play is exactly the same. It’s the easiest thing for teams to setup against.

Added to that his his ability to impact a game from the bench. Substitutes are reactive and 90% of the time like for like. Same system, different personnel hoping that’ll affect the outcome, even though it’s blatantly obvious it’s the system which is causing our issues.

This is the problem of where we are at currently. To me it was very reminiscent to the end of the Koeman era, where players who weren't in the team's value suddenly grew on the basis that it was perceived an increasingly unpopular manager didn't like them. It culminated in Vlasic playing in a midfield 2 with Gana and we got hammered for 5 in that game.

After that Unsworth played a number of the younger players people were calling for, and in honesty thinks got worse. We don't like the narrative much but Allardyce did come and steady the ship.

As you know I'm not one of the biggest critics of Tom Davies but swapping him out for Schneiderlin last season was one of the key changes made and the form took a dramatic upturn. It would be ridiculous to suggest it was solely down to this but so too would it be a bit fanciful to suggest that getting Davies back involved would see a dramatic upturn. It may happen, but evidence would suggest it is not.

More broadly, the fact we are at this point sort of indicates the broader problems Silva faces.

I don’t like chopping and changing managers at this club. It doesn’t sit right with me.

The whole attitude of those players need to change however - and quickly. They are not as good as they think they are. They will go out against Chelsea, Arsenal etc and give it a right good go and maybe get a result, which means they are cheating the fans, manager and club overall by sub par desire when playing lesser sides.
Whether that’s the manager responsibility or he has done all he can to get them in the right mindset only for it to go wrong when on the park, I’m not sure. I think I’m laying the blame with the players on the field.
Not that I enjoy this comparison but I believe it is fair from the attitude we need - There is no way goofy across the park would put up with that lethargy from the off. Go out, dominate, harass, quick passing, movement, etc .... and that attitude will continue throughout the game.

silva seems to be getting all the blame here, and I’m not sure that’s completely right. I don’t mind Silva in all honesty, but I am becoming more convinced he is not the guy to take us where we all want to be. Here’s hoping that result is a(Nother) watershed
