Proper hatchet job that.

Doubt hes making it to October after that.

throwing your players under the bus and basically calling them all sh**houses , defo doesn't end well.

if they thought that little of you not to put the effort in , then berating them in public isn't going to make things better, they will down tools completly

Marco Silva has accused his Everton players of “hiding” ahead of a potentially crucial run of games, starting with Tuesday's Carabao Cup trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
But Silva could be losing his grip on members of his squad, with question marks emerging over his lengthy training sessions and ability to motivate his team.

Everton have lost three of their past four Premier League matches, the latest defeat coming at home against newly promoted Sheffield United, to put manager Silva under pressure.

“It is not the moment for anyone to hide,” Silva said. “I said it inside the dressing room, too [after the Sheffield United defeat] – there is nowhere we can hide, we have to show stronger character, personality. Unfortunately, in some moments, we didn’t see that. Now I don’t want anyone hiding, not me, not them. It is a moment for us to go and play football and to take responsibility as well.

“In the second half, I didn’t see that ability and in some moments many players were hiding and didn’t give solutions. I want everyone there – football is about playing and showing strong character. No one can hide. No one, I am always here for you, I am always here for our fans, I will not hide, no one can hide.”

A section of Everton supporters booed the team at the end of the Sheffield United defeat and Silva now faces the task of trying to keep his players, as well as the fans, on side. While there is sympathy for Silva in some quarters, following a summer in which no central defender was signed and the club’s transfer strategy appeared muddled, there are also issues for the Portuguese to address.

The biggest of those appears to be the mental fatigue some players are feeling as a result of his long, tactical training sessions and preference for his squad to stay in a hotel before all games.

There is also a sense that he is failing to inspire his team and dwells on bad results for too long, rather than quickly lifting his players.

Silva has been attempting to solve his team’s inability to defend set-pieces with little improvement. Since the start of last season, Everton have conceded 20 goals from corners and free-kicks – more than any other Premier League team.

The problem has resulted in Silva making his squad practise defending set-pieces for repetitive sessions of up to an hour long at times, but there is a feeling they have become counterproductive.

Individuals have become bored during set-piece practice and switched off to the instructions they are being given. Those not directly involved have to hang around and can lose concentration.

Silva likes to keep his players at the training ground for long periods, but groups of them are used to more intense sessions under past managers or at former clubs.

He also prefers the squad to stay together in a hotel before home and away games, meaning players will often only have a couple of hours to return home after a Friday session before having to meet up again, which can be unpopular.

Silva’s demeanour on the touchline has been commented on by frustrated fans, who would like to see more passion, and questions have been asked over whether he can motivate his players.

Sources claim the 42-year-old stews on bad results and is not an inspiring character on the training pitch or in the dressing room. The situation has not yet hit crisis point, but Everton face a critical fortnight before the international break in which they travel to Championship club Wednesday, host Manchester City and visit Burnley.

Silva admitted the Wednesday game had become “really important”, but refused to give any clues over whether he would make wholesale changes.

He added: “We have to look at respecting the competition, respecting our goals for that competition and what we want to achieve in it. We have to be strong, we want to go to the next round, so that is what we want, a reaction in this game.”

YIKES

Hes calling the players out, this doesnt end well for Mr Silva.
Who is the leak within the club supplying that information?

That reads like a manager that is on the brink. Silva needs sacking but some of these players also need booting out of the club.

You can throw your players under the bus if you have proven yourself and that your philosophy works. Silva has not proven any of that and it looks like a man that is shifting the blame. Mourinho for instance probably had a point when he went after the divas on his team. Silva is a diva just like all of the other goobers in our squad.

It is like the final days of Allardyce, Koeman and Martinez all over again.

He is right that they are a bunch of lazy scared bottlers mind but it is his job to coach and get the best out of them so it ends up back at him regardless.

These next 2 games are absolutely massive and tenure defining for him i think.

I'm not Silva's biggest fan, I never have been and unless he's winning us trophies I never will be. I didn't see the clamour for him nor want him myself but he's here. I'm not setting out to defend him here because I'm leaning towards wanting him to get the boot myself soon, though I'm sure some will take this as a defence of him.

But that article doesn't make me think there's something wrong with Silva. "Not motivating the players" eff me. Just eff me. These players are on the highest wages in Everton's history, multiple record signings in that squad. It's not just on Silva to motivate them, he's got a whole coaching staff behind him and lads like Ferguson, Unsworth, Brands (who we've seen in the tunnel home and away on matchdays). Of course there are managers that make players want to play for them. There's also 37k-38k blues they walk out in front of every week and it's suggested that the excuse "Silva doesn't motivate us" is enough to put in garbage performances? all the club staff they must see every day who are usually all local blues as well.

Players can't concentrate for an hour if they have to hang around Finch Farm or do set-piece training? Alarm bells. I get they've had a full day of physical activity - it's difficult and I can empathise with that slightly. What I can't empathise with is why we proved we actually can defend set-pieces at the start of the year and now we've regressed - the only reason they have to do the extra training is because they've clearly either gotten complacent or forgotten all the training they did before that fixed the problem in the first place. Rather than the article being about Silva I'd like to know which "individuals" are switching off and ignoring tactical instructions though - it's so important in defending set-pieces that EVERYONE is on the same page.

The only part I can forgive is the hotel waffle, we do have some family oriented players (Richarlison, Siggy getting married, Bernard, Kean, isn't Pickfords missus pregnant?) and players with young kids that I'm sure they'd want to be home to parent (Digne and Coleman both having infants).

The end of the day I'm not enthusiastic about Silva myself but I've seen the players put in these horrible performances before - especially Schneiderlin, Keane and Siggurdson. I've seen some of the same players put in amazing performances - there's a lot of things you could pick at on Silva - his tactics, the failure to get goals out of the 4 strikers he's had. This article just makes me feel more ire towards the players and highlights the set-piece problem which everyone knew about anyway.

I don't think that's throwing the players under the bus at all. He's saying what we can all see. Can't come back when behind, hiding. Not defending set pieces properly, work on them. if they don't like training set pieces then get it right and show they don't need to. If this is a real 'source' then he should stop his whinging and start fighting for points

So we had a squad of bottle jobs, replaced 15 of them and have a squad of bottle jobs. That seems pretty bad luck and rather unlikely. Maybe we just appoint poor or weak managers that can't motivate or control a squad.
That and I don’t think there is any pressure to succeed here. Nobody comes to Everton to “win trophies.” They come here to get game time and put themselves on the map.

We have to appoint the right guy and change the image of the club. Having the wrong guy certainly does not help.

That whole article makes for bad reading but that deal about the short gap between training ending and then meeting up at the team hotel is utterly ridiculous, surely they shouldn't need such a long training session 24 hours before a game? Do a morning session then an evening meet up for home games or for aways have a cool down at FF before travelling down

youd of thought Marcel Brands would have told him to put a more positive spin on things behind the scenes..

we really don't need to know the inner workings of the team... that should all be kept in house.

just say he wasn't happy and they have worked extra hard to make sure we are up for the cup, a competition we are looking to do very well in.

just making himself to look yet more amateurish, if that was even possible
