44 games and 3 transfer windows into his tenure and a dream start to this season opposition wise and this is how far we have progressed or should i say regressed. It is a struggle to get into the top 10, never mind the top 6 with this man in charge and it should be obvious to everyone by now that this is just business as usual and how it will always be. No other ambitious club would accept it and neither should we.

Christ, when you see that table........-4 goal difference from those 6 fixtures is ridiculous.

You do realize that aside from the meager parachute payments to relegated teams for the first 3 years, none of the premier league TV money goes to teams outside of the teams actually in the premier league don't you...

it would seem you do not.

Which is why you don't think it would be a disaster.

And is also why you are horrifically incorrect

Plenty of clubs living perfectly fine in the championship without USM backing them and a big fanbase filling out the ground - I think we would be fine.

It aint the 90's/00's under BK anymore pal dont worry we wouldnt be another Bolton.

As I said if the worst ever happened let the doomsday brigade go support Man City or whoever is 7th in the Prem - I would still be following us whatever league we are in.

This fella has had 200 million since July 2018. The club has made back about 87 million in outgoing transfers, still he’s spent roughly around 110-115 million out the clubs budget and this squad doesn’t look much better. The club top to bottom is rotten in the last 4 summer windows the outlay is close to 440 million. Astonishing amount of money spent without adding Walcott and Tosun in ... we used to laugh at the RS blowing money on Carroll, Downing, Aqualini, we used to moan ‘if we had the money’. Well for 3-4 seasons now the money has been there and this club looks no better ... Silva has to go but also the boardroom needs a severe clear out.
just wondering what Villa, Bournemouth & Sheffield United have spent in those windows. Somewhat less than £440m I’d wager. Mind boggling.

"Be Everton" is the thing we should NEVER aim to be. The culture of mediocrity flows through the veins of EFC. Kenwright's tenure had no other aim that to attempt to "punch above our weight"/knives to gunfights. Moshiri seems to have just embraced that. From a "world-class stadium" to a "decent stadium of 52k". How is 52k capacity gonna bridge the gap?
From Witsel and Mata as Year 1 targets to Bolasie and Schneiderlin. From selling Stones, Barkley, Deulofeu and Lukaku to replacing them with Williams, Sigurdsson, Bernard and no-one.

The old slogan "once everton has touched you"... actually means you are now infected by mediocrity :(

Has an opportunity to turn it round here. That’s the sign of good managers. He needs to show he has what it takes to find solutions here. Moyes went through some terrible spells but he kept the fans on side because he had credit in the bank and because he found answers within the squad. Silva needs to show he can do the same. The form of United Chelsea and Spurs means nothing is lost yet. We can still finish this season in Europe, gone deep in both cups, a settled first 11 and Silva in place going into another window of improvement. He needs to earn it though, if he allows the classic Everton death spiral to take hold and we crash out the cup and plummet towards relegation then he’ll be fired. Just keep the ship steady, ride out the storm and all is still there post January for us. The players need to step up as well and that’s where I fear for him because a lot of them are utter cowards who would gladly see another manager fired.

Best post in the thread thus far.

Everton and relegation isn’t good atall don’t even think it is you moron.

It is bizarre how little we play through the middle, it simply must come from him. We seem totally bereft of ideas except for give it to Coleman/Digne to cross it in. It doesn’t help that our strikers movement is virtually non existent, but still the one dimensional tactics are painfully easy to defend against. We should have the quality to play through teams occasionally, but we never even try.

In fairness, with two defensive midfielders we’re not going to play through the middle. Delph and Schneiderlin simply aren’t that type of player. Gomes is but has a crisis of confidence, Davies possibly but doesn’t get in the side...and JPG we really haven’t seen enough of to make comment. With Richarlison, Iwobi, Bernard, Coleman and Digne its clearly going to be channelled down the lines.

Marco Silva has accused his Everton players of “hiding” ahead of a potentially crucial run of games, starting with Tuesday's Carabao Cup trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
But Silva could be losing his grip on members of his squad, with question marks emerging over his lengthy training sessions and ability to motivate his team.

Everton have lost three of their past four Premier League matches, the latest defeat coming at home against newly promoted Sheffield United, to put manager Silva under pressure.

“It is not the moment for anyone to hide,” Silva said. “I said it inside the dressing room, too [after the Sheffield United defeat] – there is nowhere we can hide, we have to show stronger character, personality. Unfortunately, in some moments, we didn’t see that. Now I don’t want anyone hiding, not me, not them. It is a moment for us to go and play football and to take responsibility as well.

“In the second half, I didn’t see that ability and in some moments many players were hiding and didn’t give solutions. I want everyone there – football is about playing and showing strong character. No one can hide. No one, I am always here for you, I am always here for our fans, I will not hide, no one can hide.”

A section of Everton supporters booed the team at the end of the Sheffield United defeat and Silva now faces the task of trying to keep his players, as well as the fans, on side. While there is sympathy for Silva in some quarters, following a summer in which no central defender was signed and the club’s transfer strategy appeared muddled, there are also issues for the Portuguese to address.

The biggest of those appears to be the mental fatigue some players are feeling as a result of his long, tactical training sessions and preference for his squad to stay in a hotel before all games.

There is also a sense that he is failing to inspire his team and dwells on bad results for too long, rather than quickly lifting his players.

Silva has been attempting to solve his team’s inability to defend set-pieces with little improvement. Since the start of last season, Everton have conceded 20 goals from corners and free-kicks – more than any other Premier League team.

The problem has resulted in Silva making his squad practise defending set-pieces for repetitive sessions of up to an hour long at times, but there is a feeling they have become counterproductive.

Individuals have become bored during set-piece practice and switched off to the instructions they are being given. Those not directly involved have to hang around and can lose concentration.

Silva likes to keep his players at the training ground for long periods, but groups of them are used to more intense sessions under past managers or at former clubs.

He also prefers the squad to stay together in a hotel before home and away games, meaning players will often only have a couple of hours to return home after a Friday session before having to meet up again, which can be unpopular.

Silva’s demeanour on the touchline has been commented on by frustrated fans, who would like to see more passion, and questions have been asked over whether he can motivate his players.

Sources claim the 42-year-old stews on bad results and is not an inspiring character on the training pitch or in the dressing room. The situation has not yet hit crisis point, but Everton face a critical fortnight before the international break in which they travel to Championship club Wednesday, host Manchester City and visit Burnley.

Silva admitted the Wednesday game had become “really important”, but refused to give any clues over whether he would make wholesale changes.

He added: “We have to look at respecting the competition, respecting our goals for that competition and what we want to achieve in it. We have to be strong, we want to go to the next round, so that is what we want, a reaction in this game.”

YIKES

Hes calling the players out, this doesnt end well for Mr Silva.

He has been reading this forum apparently lol.

“You are hiding! And he was hiding! I was playing hide and seek as well!”

He just went full Brendan Rodgers there and made himself sound very dumb. I’ll give him the benefit of a doubt and blame it on broken English.
