This is a small sample but if you watch closely this set up happens constantly when we have extended possession. Players in the center just drift into the box and the wide players are left to hit and hope on a cross.
Exactly. To add to this.
The back 6 is extremely guilty of slowing the tempo. Seems to be very fearful of being adventurous in quick and forward channel passing.
All players are guilty of having too many touches on the ball, slowing the game down further. What happen to one two return passes?
our attacking phase is almost always 20 over pass sideway/short before eventually pushing wide and crosses. At this level, 10 passes amongst ourselves is enough for any opposing team to set up 2 banks of 4.
Schneiderlin cannot contribute anything meaningful both defensively and offensively. Main culprit for slowing everything down.
I don’t understand the obsession with fullback taking throw in when we are screaming for a quick breakaway with the nearest players taking a quick throw. Again this slow down everything.
Why do we insist every attacking phase must consist of fullback getting high up the pitch? Fullback overlapping is welcome but why are we always insisting on slowing it down for the fullback to get into attacking position? rarely seen us breakaway 3 v 4 or 4 v 4.
our midfield inability to win possession meant our winger had to drop back and defend. This is fine but whenever there is turnaround, no attacking players is in a good position to effectively carry out any quick attack.
