2019/20 Marco Silva

Any manager can have one/more poor performances/results.

But given the time Marco has been with us, and the monies spent, we should be asking...
Are we improving?

If not, then 'Tchau'.
And soon.

ridiculous that he's survived this long.

It's frustrating that a win against West Ham earns him a few more weeks and almost negates the defeat to Brighton. It's not like we've just been unfortunate and played well, it's probably the opposite and if anything we're fortunate to be on 10 points given our performances in games.

We haven't improved under him despite some decent acquisitions on the playing front.

I think every game is a pressure game for the manager unless he strings a series of wins together and it is difficult to see that happening.
As bad as we are a loss against a poor Watford side is hard to imagine and even harder to imagine how the manager could survive if it were to happen.

The team that starts tonight will be interesting, will it be conservative or more attack minded as it has been in the last two games, an ideal opportunity to put Gibson and Gordon on the bench.

I can't help but look at the set of fixtures we've had so far and be fairly confident that a number of supposedly inferior managers would have comfortably amassed more points with this set of players.

An estimate from those games for me would have probably been 18-20 points before the season started, yet here we are with the 5th worst goal difference in the league having lost 4 of the last 5 and only managed a goal a game average. It doesn't make for great reading and the quicker this clown is booted out the door the better for me, his whole demeanour is off and he doesn't give me any confidence that he can change things.

Beaten by Villa, Bournemouth, Sheff Utd, Burnley and Brighton, grim.

would the manager of an ambitious club survive after losing as many games to this type of opposition? The answer is obvious.

I think the worry about wanting to give him more time to get it right could be very dangerous and leave us in a very perilous situation after the Spurs game.

Yeah we are only 3 points off the team in 7th, but we aren’t winning games to bridge the gap.

what happens, big what happens, if we win both the next games? Silva buys more time but is it still just to a dead end, so whats the point?

man oh man have we got to rely on the DOF getting things right for who is next at the helm. however at least its not a shareholder making these crucial decisions.

My feeling is that if we stay above relegation the manager may be allowed to limp along until the end of the season when he will be replaced.
After getting rid of so many managers in such a short period of time I think they dread the thought of binging in another interim manager.

No way Silva will play safe to save himself - Coleman, Siggy and perhaps Schneids with DCL upfront.

Because football is a game judged on chances. Absolute cuckoo land you live in. We were beaten fair and Square by all the teams except maybe Brighton. The object of the game is to score more than the opposition. When we win, do we say we shouldn’t have because the other team missed a couple??? Bizarre thought process..
It’s ok though, if we go down, you can give the FA a bell and tell them we missed a few chances, we should never have lost. I’m sure they’ll reinstate us
If it was Everton would be in the top 5 because Everton has had more and better chances than their opponents almost every match.

Very true but to get there we have to win and they have to lose, can you see that happening? given our fixtures coming up?

so we are 100% blaming this on recruitment and the types of players he is having to work with?

but didn’t you say a few posts back this is a good squad and much better one than BFS or Koeman had?

No, im saying that theres such a huge rebuilding process underway that it takes time.

Ive even posted a new thread saying the same thing...the koeman disaster (as i said before ee hired him) will knock the club down massively and it will take several years before we are in a position where the squad is rebuilt.

Im not really sure how you consider the squad to be decent, we dont even have a fully quality 11 let alone a squad.

Bad luck doesnt fall on the manager but the players bottling after any kind of pressure certainly are

Usual suspects for the past few years...

Ahh so Silva is now responsible for players missing open goals now...

Agreed.

Again 7th position....we would be in joint 7th if we werent robbed last game.

Agreed, weve had better chances than all our oponents so far....quite shocking misses and im not quite sure how to recify players missing open goals.

Never get why some fans will defend a manager or player to the hilt.

I loved Coleman and Jags as players in their primes but rightfully called them out when it was obvious they were in decline.

I didnt mind Koeman as manager but rightfully called him out after our transfer debacle/2nd season.

Why can't some just call a spade a spade? I also believe Moshiri is guilty of this - he's let Voldermort off with alot more than Martinez/Koeman got away with.

Silva’s problem now is he’s only ever a loss away from another crisis. Under him we have this tiny little bursts where we win a handful of games, climb the league and we fans all start to believe that, that is us, that’s our default setting and were it not for those little patches of bad form interrupting our season we’d knocking on the door of the top six. Sadly under Marco it’s the other way round. Our default is we are poor… we are seriously poor and it’s those little bursts that interrupt how terrible we are that prevent us from being in serious trouble. The squad is unbalanced – that’s not necessarily his fault, we have sold key players and not replaced them, that’s probably not his fault, we have had crippling injuries to players and again that’s not his fault but the poor tactics, the same tired formation, picking the same underperforming players, the reactive substitutions, the suicidal defending at set pieces, the inability to pick up his players when they’re losing, repeating the same mistakes time and time again… that is down to him.
I don’t expect miracles, we don’t have an amazing team – we aren’t top 6 quality but equally we’ve got a better squad of players than the likes of Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Sheffield United and Burnley. Regardless of tonight’s result his time is up for me.l
