2019/20 Marco Silva

Between Gbamin Bernard and Gomes, Silva has been lucky. But he had enough games with both Bernard and Gomes available, to pick up enough points to have us competing at the top end of the table.I don't dislike Silva in the same way that i disliked both Martinez Koeman, but we are 17th, and scraping a last second draw against an out of sorts Spurs side, ain't much to write home about.

We are in a deep malaise and serious rut, and he doesn't seem capable of turning it around.I would presume the board has told Marcel Brands to look for potential replacements. If they have not done at least that, then i would be seriously worried, about where this club is heading, and it would show that the board are living in cloud cuckoo land.We ain't going to attract an Mourinho unfortunately, but someone like Guus Hiddink could do a job.But a depressing sense of inertia has set in, and we need to get out of it, a hell of a lot sooner than later. If Marco Silva is not capable of doing that, then he needs to go unfortunately.

Ghana, pivotal, replacement injured. Bernard injured now Gomez. VAR has denied us five points in the last two games. Now is the time to get behind the manager and the team and not let luck and injustice beat us.

Those five points would have changed the mood of the fans and had the team playing with confidence. You cant just play your way up now, TV branding had seen to that. You have to batter the opposition and then you might get a kind decision or two. Changing our manager will change nothing. He is fine. Needs more squad depth and a bit of luck.
He’s been unlucky with injuries like....

Injuries have ruined the centre mid pairing of Gbamin and Gomes...along with Bernard and more.

Imagine if instead of losing the centre we had lost Keane / Mina.

He's been let down with this squad.

He's also been screwed over by VAR 5pts in the last 2 games...we should be joint 6th now.

Very bad luck.

Martinez was the last manager we played football with.
Yeah mate. While giving the opposition a 2 goal head start every game because we couldnt defend. Fond of him for the record season, and we did play some brilliant football his first season but he completely lost the plot in time. Do not miss the words phenomenal, incredible or physicality one iota.

Holgate has come in and kept his place, the whole CB is overblown.

I genuinely think we've been hugely unfortunate and unlucky this season. We've not played the most attractive football but most games we've produced enough to be sitting top ten.

I just don't see who we can replace Silva with at this stage, that will perform better
Luck always follows the winners...

Same as Davies in the centre.

But take 2 out of either position and were very short on numbers and quality.

Name me a side in the league that could lose their 2 "best" CMs and 2 "best" CBs and not look a little short.

City played Fernadinho at CB the other day.

Injuries to key players will hurt every single team in the world.

Ive said before and I will say it again, the lack of a CB was a massive, massive gamble, so far I personally think we have been very lucky, lucky that Mina has recovered quickly and lucky that Holgate has come in and performed reasonably well, theres still another 8+ weeks till we can add there, so lets hope we have had our bad luck in the middle of the park.

We do lack quality and depth and until we can get punt a few more wastermans thats just the way it is.

Squad building will take time, but im not having it that Silva doesnt have enough tools to do a job.

Its not even close to a top 4 squad, but its certainly a squad that somebody with a degree of sense should be getting near to 7th.

And we would be level 6th now but for the last 2 league games dodgy VAR decisions.

As I also said earlier, hes been unlucky, but 3 wins from 11 games goes beyond luck IMO.

But honestly, im still rooting for him, but the signs are not good.
I still deperately hope he turns it around but his demeanor lately has been defeated. He just looks devoid of ideas, hes hardly inspiring in any of his media duties. I just get the exact same feeling towards the end of Martinez whenever i see him on the touchline. He genuinely looks clueless. Tbf to him ge got it right today, we were solid and we looked to have turned the corner defensively. We had some good chances too but I just dont think he has it in him to turn this form around.

If you can't be good be lucky. Silva's been left with a folding hand. The Director of Football hasn't done him any favours and eviscerated any chance for the team to push on.

When the game was closing out, the cameras slowly panned to him, this was a man staring down a barrel. Silva's ghostly pained expression, knew the game's up, it's only a matter of time.

If it wasn't for his paycheck, I'd feel sorry for him. He knows it's only a matter of time. As usual the Board are conspicuous by their absence. Waiting for the supporters to turn on him so they can wring their hands clean. Again.

Inevitably somewhere down the line, we'll go again. The problem isn't the manager or even the players, it's the crucial decisions that are made at the top. The sheep fear the dog. Not the Shepherd.
