2019/20 Marco Silva

I have been calling for his removal for some time and I do believe that it is still inevitable in the coming weeks and months.

However, I think it is only right that we should be fair .
I thought the team he picked yesterday was well picked and well balanced. I thought the players tried hard and it is clear they are still playing for the manager.
Spurs are going through their own rough period but last season we lost to them at home 6-2.

I would question why it took so long to get Holgate and Davies into the team and Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson out.
There is no doubt he has been left short in certain areas that’s not entirely his fault. Injuries to key players to has been unlucky and key decisions have gone against us as we would expect. I wanted to keep him only last month because I’m worried that unless we can guarantee a top manager we would probably mess up are next appointment of manager. And at least silva knows the players, however it seems it’s not working and he certainly not getting the best out of the players he has. Players also need to take responsibility but unfortunately the buck stops with silva. On Holgate and Davies I hope they continue there form but I’ll wait until I see them play consistently.

Genuinely think that Gomes' injury has kept him in his job as the board have just completely forgotten that we're sat in 17th place

Just doing it to save face after the horrendous persual of him while he was still Watford, despite not doing anything of note.

It'll take a drubbing a la Koeman against Arsenal for the board to make a move I think.

Luckily, we have plently of teams coming up over the next 2 months that could do that easily.

Uchhhh

"This team [Tottenham] when they play against Everton create many, many problems I have to tell you, Everton didn’t win one game since 2011 against Tottenham. I have to be clear about the situation. We tried and I think we deserved more than them "

Ridiculous, I'm really trying not to dislike him, but the more I hear from him the more I think he is a moron. Might as well have said, we don't ever beat Spurs, so whats the problem?"

Seems Marco “ knows his history” havnt beaten them since 2011 so it’s ok if we do t beat them now. Bet he’s gonna have the team fired up for the derby if that’s his thinking

Sigurdsson I think was because he offers the chance of scoring, which is the major weakness in the side at present.

Be typical of our board to appoint a new manager with this opening run;

Liverpool (A), Chelsea (H), Man Utd (A), Leicester (H), Arsenal (A)

It is very worrying looking at those games, I have thought all along and still think that any continued reticence on the boards part is due to concern about who they will/won't be able to attract as a replacement, not sacking Silva as such.

Availability will be a big issue, but we absolutely need experience and nous in the dug-out now. Sadly, we are almost right back at the point before Allardyce came in. Not that I want a repeat of that, but that's the measure of the mess we are in.

Benitez seems the best appointment we could make to fit the circumstances. I can't think of anyone else.

He is so drab and uninspiring in every press conference. No fight in him. He should be calling out the Var and putting pressure on refs instead of the monosyllabic ‘we respect the referees, we respect the var...in dis moment’
And replicated by a passive Board of Directors... not one of them has come out and said a word about the decisions we've suffered in just the last two weeks.

I don’t think Silva is as close to being dismissed as some are hoping.
But if the worst does come to the worst, the only realistic option is to appoint Unsworth until the end of the season.
It is far more preferable to appoint a permanent manager in the close season when you can select a candidate of your choice rather than making do with simply the best available or even the least worst option.
That said , I still reckon Silva will still be our manager next season.

After 11 games.

2019-20 - Marco Silva

P11 | W3 | D2 | L6
For 11 | Against 17
Points 11
Position 17th

2017-18 - Ronald Koeman

P9 | W2 | D2 | L5
For 7 | Against 18
Points 8
Position 18th

So Silva has 2 more points from 2 more games than Koeman had before he was sacked.

In those 9 games Koeman was in charge of the 'top 6' we played

City
Chelsea
Spurs
United
Arsenal

This season in our first 9 games we've faced just City, and beaten easily by the two newly promoted teams.

Start compared to last season for reference.

2018-19 - Marco Silva

P11 | W5 | D3 | L3
For 19 | Against 15
Points 18
Position 9th

All I care about is 1 number and it's at the start of the table.

How can he be remotely defended by anyone?

Oh wait sorry, this must be another transition season.

I don't think anyone is defending him to be fair. It just think it'd a case of making the right appointment and when.

He won't be here by next season put it that way.

Also, stats comparing it to when we sacked Koeman don't tell all the story. The squad, the team, the football under Koeman was abhorrent.
